Shell of a King changes
The 53rd weekly update for 'Shell of a King' is here. As always, if you find any bugs, especially game-breaking ones please let me know via the official Discord! I can always revert to an earlier update if something breaks!
1.2l Change List:
Add a New Spider Boss, separating the Den of the Artificer from the Grand Library! Residing in the new Infested Hollow Area, this boss should be a solid mid-game boss, about as difficult as the Rat Duo.
Add a new area, the Infested Hollow! This area features 7 new enemies and spider web terrain.
Spiders have infested the lower part of the Grand Library. I felt like the Grand Library was the largest area, and the least interesting, so I split it into two regions.
Add new achievement for new boss and for 'Boss Master'
Add steam status rich text for the new Infested Hollow area
Add falling bookcases to the Infested portion of the Grand Library
Add new song for the Infested portion of the Grand Library
Add more unloading to Grand Library objects and particles for performance
Rename Regen charm -> Makeshift Torch, gets a new sprite, lowered weight from 1.7 -> 1.5
Add new sprites for the Cannonball and Ballista Bolt charms
Clean up the Satchel item sprite a bit
The lower letter teleporter is no longer immediately active, making you traverse the Infested grand library to reach the center. The same is true approaching from there to the Infested Hollow
Update the map to accommodate the new area. Note that old files will still have the old parts of the map revealed; this may look strange. I hope to finalize the map soon to avoid this.
Improve save/load times by about 30% by optimizing how objects are reset.
Optimize some equipped charm checking
Speed up library wall generation
The inventory now auto-closes and cannot be used while dialogue is active
Correctly update the boss count from 21 -> 23 (I forgor to include Auri last time)
Limit the spawn rate of the Scorpions in the Deep Sewers
Fix some broken response options
Fix player light not dimming in the desert
Fix being able to click on stuff while the pause menu is open
Fix being able to rest/unrest at a statue while paused
Fix being able to teleport with the pause menu open
Fix being able to navigate to buttons in various menus while paused via gamepad
Fix enemy hitbox sprites clipping with certain projectiles
Fix enemies not pathing around poison statues
Fix bomb particles not pausing while the game is paused
Fix Split's Fishing Duel song not pausing while the game is paused
Fix Rock Snake's head not turning red with no body parts
Fix light flickering on activating a cutscene
Fix not being able to fish in the poison south of the Hall of Mistakes after getting pulled in by Queen's Pet
Fix using the inventory breaking activatable charm usage until resting
Other visual bug fixes
