changedSteam Community Items are now available! As stated in the title of this update - Valve has finally accepted our submission this week, so that means you're now able to spend your Steam Points to purchase Scriptorium-flavored graphics to make your Steam experience truly scriptorium-esque (we love that word!):
addedExperimental Branch - we need your help! This is a special build where we’re testing a new file compression system (LZ4). In simple terms: the game should now load less data directly from disk, which can lead to faster loading times and smoother asset streaming - especially on HDDs, where this kind of optimization can make a noticeable difference. So if you experienced any issues with long loading times, please run the game from this Steam branch and check it out for yourself.
addedExperimental Branch - we need your help! However, there is one important technical note: Because of the new compression system, the game build size has significantly changed (from ~8GB down to ~2GB). While this is a big improvement, it also means the file structure is different enough that Steam may not apply a small patch update when switching branches. Instead, in some cases it may treat it as a full re-download of the gamehen switchinbhes This is especially important for anyone with limited bandwidth r data caps just keep that in mind before switching back and forth.

It is hard to believe that it has been two weeks since the launch of Scriptorium - we don't want to overwhelm you with our gratitude in every single update, but you know as well as we do that none of this would be possible without you all. So, once again - thank you for making Scriptorium possible!

A few days ago, we hit a massive milestone of 500 reviews - and that is literally thanks to you! With the overwhelming majority of them being positive, it means that Scriptorium is a dream come true for everyone involved in making the game. You have no idea how happy we are that Scriptorium is now among the best rated games on Steam, with astonishing"Overwhelmingly Positive"rating!

JWhat is the best way to celebrate such success? With a handful of fresh news from the development of Scriptorium and the small victories we have achieved along the way. Let's get to it!

Little update on the Post-release update

As you know from our previous blogpost, the Post-release update has been in the works for quite some time already - and of course, it is going to be free! We are players ourselves, and we love free stuff too. The team is doing everything they can to deliver the most requested features and content as part of this free update very soon. After many discussions and planning sessions, we are pleased to confirm that you can expect:

  • Sandbox Gallery!!! that's by far the most requested feature, so we are happy to announce that you'll be able to create multiple simulatenous sandbox creations, save and edit them later. Hope it is going to help you organize your creative work a little bit better, without any workarounds needed!

  • Exporting your artworks as-they-are, i.e. without parchment background, so you can print them more easily and use them for your online and offline, projects

  • Commercial use updated policy - we expect to launch this properly as part of the update. For more details please take a look at the previous update!

  • More commissions and fantastic new clients!

  • ...and maybe a few more QoL improvements and additions, that for now will remain a secret. đź‘€

Steam Community Items are now available!

As stated in the title of this update - Valve has finally accepted our submission this week, so that means you're now able to spend your Steam Points to purchase Scriptorium-flavored graphics to make your Steam experience truly scriptorium-esque (we love that word!):

  • Profile Backgrounds

  • Badges

  • Trading Cards

  • Emojis

We put a lot of effort into making them look as good as the game itself - and we have heard tons of praise for the art of Scriptorium. As always, we are passing these compliments to our 700-year-old Concept Artists who created the original manuscripts and marginalia pieces back then. We are just their humble interns! So, let's get out there and collect them all!

Experimental Branch - we need your help!

Our goal with this Experimental Branch is to test various adjustments before they go live for all Steam users - if you want to help us out, great!

We have not touched the save system at all, so you can safely switch and test without worrying about your progress. That said, as with any experimental build, making a quick backup is never a bad idea just in case. Still - this branch should not affect your saves in any way.

What we’re looking for - we’d love your feedback based on real gameplay experience, especially:

  • shorter game startup time

  • loading times

  • scene transitions

  • overall responsiveness

If we see strong positive feedback and real improvements, we’ll be looking to roll this system into the main game build.

How to access the experimental branch:

Steam → Library → Scriptorium → Properties → Betas. Enter password: experimentalyazagames2026 Select the newly unlocked branch - Steam should start downloading automatically. If you have any issues, let us know in the comments!

Scriptorium Deluxe Edition - update on title!

This is a minor update, but we are letting you know regardless. As you know, the Scriptorium Deluxe Edition bundle includes both the base game and the "Soundtrack pack." But since that pack contains much more than just music - including printable artworks for TTRPG sessions, Valentine's Day cards, work organizers, tabletop games and more - we are renaming it to the Music & Art Pack, so it's now easier to know what you can expect from the deluxe edition by just looking at the contents. We hope this clarifies the offer a bit better for everyone! And remember that Deluxe Edition is just a way to support us a bit more - basically going an extra mile to help Scriptorium earn funds for anything comes in the future. We appreciate each purchase very much!
