changedHello Scribes!Oh, what an amazing week it’s been! Tomorrow marks seven days since the release of Scriptorium, and the response from you all has been absolutely amazing. Thousands of players have played our game, hundreds have left reviews (over 400 reviews and 98% positive rating?! how cool is that??!!) and the warmth and compliments on social media have been beyond counting. As a studio, we are genuinely amazed and moved by the love you’ve given us.
fixedHotfix update is here! (feat. Initials!)First of all - yes, we know many of you were sad that those big fancy letters were nowhere to be found in the game. We ran into some technical issues just before launch and originally expected to add them soon in a content update, but we heard you loud and clear and fast-tracked them over the last few days. We are excited to announce that once you update your game with the hotfix that is now live, those initials are already here and you can use them now!
fixedHotfix update is here! (feat. Initials!)The entire alphabet of these ornate letters is finally waiting for you. Also, some of you noticed that certain body parts (👁️👁️) were missing compared to the playtest and demo builds - this was simply an oversight during the hectic pre-launch rush. Apologies for that! They are now back in the game, so go take a look! 👁️👀
addedContent Update is coming!Second - a proper Content Update for Scriptorium is already in active development! Our designers, writers, artists, and programmers are working on expanding the experience, so you can expect quality-of-life improvements, new commissions, and maybe even some exciting cameo appearances… 🍌 more on that soon!
changedContent Update is coming! We are aware of the HDD issues involving long loading times on PCs with older disk drives, and we are currently looking into how to fix that.
addedContent Update is coming!Regarding copyright and using art exports for your own commercial projects: we are working on an new policy related to that. In the meantime, non-commercial use is absolutely fine and you don’t even have to ask us. If you’re working on something else and can’t wait for the updated policy, feel free to reach out to us at collab[at]yazagames[dot]com and describe what you'd like to make with art from Scriptorium (and no, we’re not looking to make a profit out of your work made in Scriptorium).

Hello Scribes!

Oh, what an amazing week it’s been! We couldn't have imagined a better launch for Scriptorium, and for all of that, we simply want to thank you! ❤️

Now let's get to the details - we are listening to your feedback and reading every single thread on Steam, so we have a few important things to share!

Hotfix update is here! (feat. Initials!)

First of all - yes, we know many of you were sad that those big fancy letters were nowhere to be found in the game. We ran into some technical issues just before launch and originally expected to add them soon in a content update, but we heard you loud and clear and fast-tracked them over the last few days. We are excited to announce that once you update your game with the hotfix that is now live, those initials are already here and you can use them now!

The entire alphabet of these ornate letters is finally waiting for you. Also, some of you noticed that certain body parts (👁️👁️) were missing compared to the playtest and demo builds - this was simply an oversight during the hectic pre-launch rush. Apologies for that! They are now back in the game, so go take a look! 👁️👀

Content Update is coming!

Second - a proper Content Update for Scriptorium is already in active development! Our designers, writers, artists, and programmers are working on expanding the experience, so you can expect quality-of-life improvements, new commissions, and maybe even some exciting cameo appearances… 🍌 more on that soon!

Third - even if we aren’t commenting on every single thread in the Steam Forums, please know that we are reading them all. Here are some key points regarding your most frequent questions:

  • The sandbox gallery is in active development and it is coming! You will be able to create many separate works, save them, and return to them whenever you want. This will likely arrive as part of the "bigger" content update in a few weeks. In the meantime, there is an unofficial workaround involving the sandbox.dat file in the appdata folder - you can find the instructions HERE. Please note that this is unofficial and not supported by us, though we do use that method for our marketing work too!

  • We are aware of the HDD issues involving long loading times on PCs with older disk drives, and we are currently looking into how to fix that.

  • Regarding copyright and using art exports for your own commercial projectswe are working on an new policy related to that.
  • We know many of you are asking for Linux and Mac versions. While we cannot promise anything yet, we hear you and will revisit this topic once the post-launch dust settles. The same applies to other language versions - we would love to do it, so let’s wait and see if it’s possible!

  • Key binds are in the game and can be found here and yes, you can copy and paste texts written outside the game with good old ctrl+c & ctrl+v! Feel free to experiment with different texts!

Scriptorium Theme Song!

Also, we know some of you never click on the credits, so we wanted to show you the amazing Scriptorium theme created by our great friend and incredibly talented bardcore musician, Hildegard von Blingin’ - My Scriptorium! Listen to it here and give her some love!

Very special Steam Bundle!

Lastly, although the game is bundled with amazing games (Pentiment, Sticky Business, House Flipper 2, A Little to the Left, Thronefall, Bladesong, and our publisher Mythwright awesome packs!) we wanted to highlight the bundle with our studio debut title that gave the foundation for Scriptorium - Inkulinati! Both games are part of the ongoing Steam Medieval Fest, and you can grab them with an additional 10% bundle discount during the event - honestly, the price is absolutely the best for tons of hand-drawn content made by real artists with zero AI!

Scriptorium x Inkulinati

Inkulinati is the tactical, turn-based twin brother of Scriptorium, created by us with the same amount of love and passion. If you like the weird medieval aesthetic, you’ll have an awesome time there too!

That’s all for today. We are now back to work on the game, filled with determination and gratitude, thanks to you all. You're the best community we could ask for! Stay medieval!

Your Yaza Games and Mythwright Teams

PS. Remember that we are still looking for Scriptorium reviews on Steam - we very, very appreciate all 400 reviews you already submitted, and the next goal is 500 reviews milestone, that would be the best thing ever! submitting a review takes only a minute, you can do it on our Steampage - it's the best way of supporting our development journey. Thank you so much for every review ❤️
