  • Fixed a relatively rare crash caused by old code

This week, I wrapped up the "fetch" quest, and added a few conversations. More conversations will be on the way as I gradually flesh them out, probably at a rate of 4-6 complete conversations per week. But the main focus will still be on playable content, like quests.

Steam post image The new quest book entry for fetch quests

Much like with the "recover" quest, "fetch" quests also have the "live" pointer to the location of the item, except unlike the "recover" quest, the "fetch" quest can span different levels of the cave, now called strata (singular stratum), being the only quest that does so. This makes it far more difficult since now you'll have to navigate up and down levels using the lairs.

Another unique feature is that you have to have a certain amount of money to finish the quest. As I write this, I realized I should have put that in the quest book and will do so in a future update. Basically this money is the payment to purchase the item from whoever has it. In theory you can spend it and earn it back later, but that's up to your sense of scrupulosity.

0.2.90 will be the last 0.2 update, and I realize I have been working on it for slightly over a year. I'll endeavor to get the completed 0.3 update out quicker. I think it will go a bit faster, since most of the mechanics are in place, I just need to do some fleshing out and some light mechanic building.

The plan for 0.3 (Vices and Virtues) is to increase the density of moral choices significantly. I know that I've promised a lot with choices mattering and such but now is the time where it will start actually mattering. If you do something wrong, evil will manifest in the world. Doing the wrong thing will be tempting, and doing the right thing may be difficult. The 0.3 update will be where a lot of the spirit of the game will come into play, even as 0.2 was the flesh and 0.4 will be the heart.
