Rise of the Foederati changes
Hi there.
It's been a while since our last update. We didn't give you guys a Merry Christmas nor a Happy New Year, but we've been hard at work to provide something to make up for this. Our timeline is filled with holes and not complete yet for this year, because of many not-listed-before content being added.
Taking into a bulletpoint list, lets address each point here.
New units.
Until the end of February-mid March, all tribes will feature their six Ordinary units and one Authority unit, meaning the remaining tribes, Basques and Franks, will have their new units added. The Frankish unit should take longer because of the sheer amount of animations and its new depiction of a mechanic regarding reloading weapons.
After this, our focus will go into the new tribe. The new tribe ready, we'll add a new leader for each tribe, making it possible for players to choose one of the two tribe units, each with strengths and weaknesses.
New tribe.
The Alans, Alani, or Alanians, are the new tribe to be added. We do not have a preview of when it should be ready, but consider it a priority for us in 2022. Their playstyle will be very different from the rest of the tribes, with heavy focus on cavalry and using foot units as supportive roles, instead of the other way around.
New animations.
All units that can switch weapons will have a fast, but noticeable animation of them sheathing/putting away their last weapon and drawing their new. Below an example and preview of our new Frankish unit.
This should be ready and uploaded in a new patch by the end of February.
Map travelling/new game modes
This is our main programming focus, and it is incredibly painful to pull it off because its almost a new game on of itself. Too many variables to consider and the fact its a multiplayer scene that is shared with hundreds of players per server makes it difficult for us to nail it. There is no ETA for its conclusion, but maybe a test server for strain testing will be needed. Once the basics are set, we can start creating new game modes.
This should be for now, so expect a new patch until the end of the next month and more content soon. Our apologizes for the long silence.
