Update 0.3.20 live
It's April Fool's! I've prepared a small surprise:
A new Riftling + Quest (dangly attachment reward) has been added, the fish jingle is especially nice on this one.
New inventory
Thanks to everyone who tried out the new inventory in Discord #demo-public-test ! Warning: If coming from 0.3.18 your inventory contents will be jumbled a bit! The new inventory comes with better performance, visuals, 7 hotbar slots / inventory columns, a context menu (favorite, lock, set custom flags, discard etc.), sorting a cleaned up shop with more functionality and a proper buyback system. Items are now marked as owned and the currency is now officially called "Coins". The "Tier" stat has been removed from items. The 3D item preview looks correct now. There are now 3 loadouts for equipment available. Find the intricate details in the Discord. What changed from the 0.3.19 public test for the inventory:
Fixed: Shop refreshes on re-open again
Fixed: Context menu can be opened while fishing
Fixed: Players don't get softlocked when fishing past 999 items, you'll get an error trying to fish with 997 or more items
Fixed: Using sort button prevents Tab from working
Fixed: PocketPal stays physically out even tho the PocketPal menu was closed
- FixedPaint brush "Use" context action removed
Fixed: 3D item previews are correct now
Changed: 3D item preview performance improvement
Added: "Sell all Riftlings" will show the total amount of Coins you'll get in its popup before selling
Also: Ink trading has been removed for now. Color palette creation is completely free. There has been some feedback about the inventory menu that I'll address soon, like the context menu being inconsistent in inventory and shop menus and right-clicking instantly selling and buying in the shop being unexpected. Totem prices and some inconvenience bugs still need to be fixed. Chat & UI
Added: The screen space on the left (where loot is shown) will now also be used to show notifications. Like a Rift spawning, hints, errors.
- AddedZone system. When you walk around you will enter different zones and a notification will show. This is mostly for world building and testing the new "Riftling origins" for now.
Fixed: Pressing Tab after sending a chat message will open the inventory properly instead of selecting a players nickname in the chat box
Fishing
Changed: You can now always cast your fishing line. If unsuccessful it will be reeled back.
Added: Starting now, Riftlings will show a lot of information about their origins. Who caught the Riftling in what location with which tool, when? This will tie in nicely with naming and gifting fish once we have that. Old catches will not have this information yet, and their tooltip will not show this information.
Fixed: The catch window now shows a maximum of 6 stars instead of only 5. The stars also start from the bottom upwards now.
Changed: The catch window now requires two presses. The first press will advance the window to show texts etc., the second press will close it.
Equipment
Fixed: The totem effect "Size Shift" now shows properly if it's a negative value.
Changed
The totem effect "Size XXXXL" (Astronomical+) will now boost Astronomical chance.
The chances are approximately
0.05 = 0.3% | 0.1 = 0.9% | 0.15 = 2%. I'll change this system before Early Access, so this is temporary.
And for those who are wondering
Yes, put everything into Astronomical+.
Changed: All size totem effects have been renamed. "Size XXXXL" is now Astronomical+ etc.
Sound
Fixed: The ambience sounds work now. Most times only the ocean sound was triggering. Now there are properly 4 different sounds (ocean, beach, forest, cave)
Added: The cave has a reverb effect
Other
Fixed: Emote wheel buttons won't show the amount of Coins anymore
Fixed: In the customization menu, the icons won't show the amount of Coins and the customization hint anymore
Fixed: XP bar won't show up anymore when failing to fish

Update 0.3.17 live
Chat & UI
Rifts are now announced in local chat as well
Added: Player level ups (not fishing skill) are now announced in chat
- Added"Don't hide mouse cursor" to Gameplay Options. If enabled, the mouse cursor won't disappear when menus get closed or chat gets sent. Keep in mind that using Tab after chatting will select chat elements with this option on, so you'll have to: Click out of it, or use Q>1 for the inventory, or rebind the inventory key. Holding right mouse button moves the camera. Left Alt toggles mouse cursor like usual (should also not ever need to be pressed twice now).
Local chat range is increased from 15m to 18m. Also player names and speech bubbles will only be visible up to 18m now.

Fixes
Fixed: Level cap is now 999 instead of 50. Fishing Skill is still capped at 50 (as intended for now).
Fixed
"Variant Rarity Totem". These were Primordial+ totems (thanks to dentflip and fuko for the crucial hint!). If you still have them, they will work. I fear they will be too strong and it will "rain" Primordials now.
One hint tho
If you have Fortune past ~20+, Primordial chance will go down again, since Fortune boosts every rarity starting with and including Slippery.
Fixed: Size M totem drops now have values in line with all other totems (does not affect existing totems). But I'll need to take a second look at sizes, something seems a bit off here.
Fixed: Anchors will only go up to "Tier 3" as intended (this was a visual bug)
- ChangedAnchors won't be named "Tier x" anymore, instead their Tier is derived from their rarity like totems. Their new name is related to a different system that will be introduced in the future.
"Save & Quit" is cleaner and removes the player properly from the Steam lobby
Graphics Option "Auto-Detect" will now cap the frame rate to 60 during the benchmark test to prevent a sudden, heavy load on the system. The test is also less demanding. The determined graphics preset did not change on my system.
Other
Changed: Main menu finally not a PNG anymore
Removed some unneccessary files cutting game size from 990 MB~ down to 550 MB~
