Restitutor: Empire Restored changes
Social Classes
A new social class simulation has been added in this patch, which is inspired by EU4's estate (but not quite the same).
A province's residents are divided into senate, equites, and plebs classes. For each class, you can grant them privileges, which gives powerful bonuses but also increases their influence. A social class with higher influence will have lower loyalty equilibrium, which requires higher effort to maintain their loyalty.
Family Tree
In this patch, the governor's family simulation has been expanded: now every family member and spouse is simulated. There's a new family tree UI to visualize this.
You can look for spouses for each family member. A spouse can be chosen from your own province, which can come from the senate, equites, or plebs class. A spouse from that class will improve their loyalty by 50.
You can also offer marriage to other provinces' governing families, provided they have an eligible family member. This will increase their attitudes towards us by 50 for as long as the marriage lasts.
More importantly, parents' skills (administrative, diplomatic, and military) determine their offspring's skill. So strong parents will have somewhat strong offspring. This makes the marriage decision rather important - it's a trade-off among social class loyalty, diplomacy, and offspring skills.
Army Composition and General
Army system has been expanded in this patch (and I suspect it will see more expansions during the playtest).
Now the army is divided into three divisions: infantry, ranged, and cavalry. Ranged and cavalry can be increased up to 25%. Each division has different unit war power and maintenance costs. Unit war power can be improved by research.
Another addition is the army general system. Now you can appoint a general for your army - either by recruiting one (which costs monthly gold) or by appointing the governor (which adds 10 death chance). When you win a war, the general will accumulate skill points, which can be used to upgrade infantry, ranged, or cavalry skill level. Each skill level increases the respective unit power by 10%. Those upgrades will be reset when a new general is appointed.
With all these new game systems and mechanisms, the tech tree has been expanded to accommodate these additions. As more mechanisms are added, I expect the tech tree to get updated quite often.
Also because of these additions, the old save file is no longer compatible - you should be prompted with "Incompatible Save" when loading your old progress, and you can start a new progress there. This is expected for major updates during the playtest.
Expanding Playtest Scope
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4431750/Restitutor_Empire_Restored/
With this patch, I am opening up the playtest to CivIdle players with Praetor or above rank (it doesn't matter if you have the supporter pack or not). If you are interested in playtesting this game, you can sign up in our Discord - there's a sign-up thread in the #restitutor-general channel (state your CivIdle in-game name and account rank). There's a limited number of Steam keys, and I will send out invites in batches.
A few things to note for the playtest:
Restitutor is a historical incremental grand strategy game (like Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, etc). Some experience with the genre would help but is not necessary.
Playtest will be ongoing until the release of the game.
The game will go through significant changes during playtest, and not every update will be backward compatible, like this one. So your old save file might not work in the newer version.
As a token of appreciation, when the game is released, your playtest version will become the retail version of the game. i.e. you will receive this game for free.
