addedI am happy to announce that Patch 0.9 is now available for both the playtest and demo build - players trying out the demo during Steam Next Fest will receive this update as well. Patch 0.9 is compatible with progress from 0.8, so a hard reset is not required. However, this patch introduces quite a few new mechanics, so your current run may be affected - I recommend doing a rebirth anyway.
changedPlans After Steam Next FestThe demo will remain available after Steam Next Fest and will be updated alongside the playtest build. I will continue adding new mechanics, content, and QoL improvements. The demo will always include one playable province, and to help with playtesting, I will rotate the playable province so new content can be tested. After Early Access, the demo will have a fixed playable province (most likely Lugdunensis).
addedUI RevampThis is probably the first change you'll notice when you load the new patch. The new UI includes many subtle improvements that make it easier on the eyes while remaining highly functional. The new UI also supports scaling, which can be changed in the Settings menu.
addedLegacy Upgrade ReworkLegacy Upgrades now offer not only stat boosts, but also unlock powerful new game mechanics
changedLegacy Upgrade ReworkLegacy Upgrade costs are now linear instead of Fibonacci, and all skill tree nodes share the same cost curve
changedRestoration ReworkPreviously, each Restoration granted 10 Governing Capacity. In this patch, you can instead choose one bonus from three options. These options are drawn from a larger pool, and I plan to expand that pool in future updates.

Plans After Steam Next Fest

The demo will remain available after Steam Next Fest and will be updated alongside the playtest build. I will continue adding new mechanics, content, and QoL improvements. The demo will always include one playable province, and to help with playtesting, I will rotate the playable province so new content can be tested. Patch Notes for 0.9

UI Revamp

This is probably the first change you'll notice when you load the new patch. The new UI includes many subtle improvements that make it easier on the eyes while remaining highly functional. The new UI also supports scaling, which can be changed in the Settings menu.

Legacy Upgrade Rework

  • Legacy Upgrades have been redesigned into a skill tree instead of a flat list of bonuses

  • Legacy Upgrades now offer not only stat boosts, but also unlock powerful new game mechanics

  • Legacy Upgrade costs are now linear instead of Fibonacci, and all skill tree nodes share the same cost curve

Restoration Rework

Previously, each Restoration granted 10 Governing Capacity. In this patch, you can instead choose one bonus from three options. These options are drawn from a larger pool, and I plan to expand that pool in future updates.

Gameplay Changes

  • Demand Tile now checks that the target tile is not contested in an active war

  • Force Attack duration increased from 6 to 12 months

  • Capital defense bonus decreased from 100% to 40%

  • General skill upgrade costs are now linear: 1/2/3/4/5 (previously Fibonacci: 1/2/3/5/8)

  • 50% of the Skill Points earned by the current general are carried over to the next one. All skill upgrades are still reset as before

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a bug where importing goods incorrectly increased monthly income (it should decrease it)

QoL

  • Added support for UI scaling (Settings -> General -> UI Scale)

  • Added an option to hide the Todo icons on the left

Cheers, FishPond
