What a wild, hectic week it’s been since the launch date announcement! We’re officially exhausted, but seeing the first streamers explore the world we've created is already making it feel like it was all worth it, and today, we finally get to type the words we’ve been dreaming of since 2018:

🥦🍩THE GAME IS OUT! 🍩🥦

As you must know by now, we're a group of hobbyist devs from Brazil who worked on this game sporadically, and mostly asynchronously, in our free time. Having Raider Kid and the Ruby Chest finally come together as a fully playable adventure that we can share with the world feels like the cathartic end of a long chapter, that started as a notebook sketch in 2012!

To make this launch the best it can be, we’ve spent the last week listening to your feedback and applying some "final, FINAL" tweaks. If you’ve been watching pre-release streams, you might even notice some improvements in the version we released today!

"No Border" Mode

While customising your screen borders is part of the charm in the game, we’ve been listening to your feedback online, and decided to add a "No Border" mode for those who want a cleaner look with less distractions. You can turn it on in the Options menu!

While the border is deactivated,

  • In fullscreen: The game screen will scale to fill the maximum vertical space. That's the largest the game can get!

  • In Windowed Mode: It feels like using those… uhh… """alternative"""ways we all used to play portable games on our parents PC after school. It's a different kind of nostalgia!

We also worked on other adjustments for a rock-solid release!

  • Full Controller Support for Steam Deck.

  • Detecting OS language for setting the game's language.

  • Fixed pixel jittering in some cutscenes.

  • Fixed a bug where leaving and re-entering a boss room right after defeating it froze the game.

  • Lots of visual and sound adjustments in the late game, to give the game that final polish!

From the five of us here at Cacareco Games: Thank you for being part of this journey and have fun with our game! Your 10-year-old self is waiting... Now go find the Ruby Chest!
