Repeated intro

Hello again, Pool Fans, We’ve been closely monitoring feedback around AI opponents - particularly concerns about unrealistic multi-rail pots, fluke misses dropping in, and shots that simply didn’t feel believable.

What changed

  • Gameplay

fixedWhile broader AI tuning remains part of our Month 1 Patch in March, we’ve moved quickly to deploy a targeted hotfix addressing the most egregious behaviours.
changed1. Miss Validation – Preventing Frequent “Fluke Pots”What We’ve Changed
changed2. Multi-Rail Shot Classification FixPreviously, bank and kick shots were categorised as such regardless of how many rails were involved. This meant extreme multi-rail attempts could be selected far more often than we intended - resulting in a lot of outrageous, highlight-reel style pots (that a lot of you will have seen in vids posted on Reddit and YouTube!).
changed2. Multi-Rail Shot Classification FixWhat We’ve Changed
added2. Multi-Rail Shot Classification FixMost AI opponents now have only a 0–8% chance of ever attempting a Crazy shot.

This update is live now on Steam and PlayStation.

AI Behaviour Adjustments

We’ve implemented two significant changes to shot logic and outcome validation:

1. Miss Validation – Preventing Frequent “Fluke Pots”

The Issue When the AI missed a shot, there was no secondary validation to prevent the miss from unintentionally potting another ball. This led to a frustratingly high frequency of “I missed… but it went in anyway” moments.

What We’ve Changed

  • AI misses are now checked to ensure they have a far lower probability of accidentally potting another ball.

  • This should significantly reduce unrealistic fluke outcomes.

2. Multi-Rail Shot Classification Fix

The Issue AI shot selection works via weighted categories (e.g. all our players have different probabilities of straight pots, banks, kicks, plants, and “crazy” shots).

Previously, bank and kick shots were categorised as such regardless of how many rails were involved. This meant extreme multi-rail attempts could be selected far more often than we intended - resulting in a lot of outrageous, highlight-reel style pots (that a lot of you will have seen in vids posted on Reddit and YouTube!).

What We’ve Changed

  • Any shot involving more than one rail is now classified as a “Crazy” shot; a value used for our AI's attempting a shot that would be considered out-of-the-ordinary.

  • Most AI opponents now have only a 0–8% chance of ever attempting a Crazy shot.

  • This change has dramatically reduced unrealistic multi-rail conversions and improbable snooker escapes.

  • AI Player Ermina Merdanović remains the exception, with her Crazy shot percentage notably higher than that of other players. This is an intentional choice to reflect her distinct playing style.

What This Hotfix Means

In summary, these changes should result in:

  • Far fewer “impossible” feeling pots

  • Reduced fluke behaviour

  • More believable shot selection

  • More realistic AI escapes from snookers

This, however, is not the final word on AI - and we want to be clear about that.

AI tuning is something we will continue refining over time based on feedback and data. The Month 1 Patch will include more difficulty curve and behaviour adjustments, but this hotfix directly targets the issues causing the most frustration right now.
