changedHey everyone! That’s going to be a great way to conclude 2025 for Primordial Empire, and I’d like to take this chance to do a quick recap of the year. Since the demo launch in April, the game has come a long way:
changedDemo launchPrimordial Empire’s Demo debuted this April, with 2 hours of an open scenario gameplay where players can start building their microscopic colony with 19 plants and 5 cells. I was pleasantly surprised by the positive response from everyone, as we soon reached the 5,000 wishlist milestone!
addedCombat UpdateIn June, Primordial Empire got its first major update: Combat was introduced with enemies and defensive structures. War has come to the primordial soup and peaceful base building.
changedWildlife UpdateThen came the Wildlife Update in September, bringing diplomatic options to your microscopic colony. Primordial Empire is not just about competition, but also symbiosis and cooperation. And there are more meaningful ways to interact with neutral wildlife than simply fighting everything.
changedTokyo Game Show! The Wildlife Update made it in time for this major event. In Late September, I went to the Tokyo Game Show with my publisher Slug Disco to showcase Primordial Empire. It was great to see so many players trying out the latest demo and speaking to them about the game. And soon after that the game hit 10k wishlists too!
addedVirus UpdateNovember saw the final update of this year: Virus, Contaminated Remains, and Jellies. Your cells can now dig up a hazardous resource that releases a new threat, while employing a new ranged unit as a countermeasure.

Demo launch

Primordial Empire’s Demo debuted this April, with 2 hours of an open scenario gameplay where players can start building their microscopic colony with 19 plants and 5 cells. I was pleasantly surprised by the positive response from everyone, as we soon reached the 5,000 wishlist milestone!

Combat Update

In June, Primordial Empire got its first major update: Combat was introduced with enemies and defensive structures. War has come to the primordial soup and peaceful base building.

Wildlife Update

Then came the Wildlife Update in September, bringing diplomatic options to your microscopic colony. Primordial Empire is not just about competition, but also symbiosis and cooperation. And there are more meaningful ways to interact with neutral wildlife than simply fighting everything.

Tokyo Game Show!

Virus Update

November saw the final update of this year: Virus, Contaminated Remains, and Jellies. Your cells can now dig up a hazardous resource that releases a new threat, while employing a new ranged unit as a countermeasure.

What a year for Primordial Empire! This microscopic colony builder has been constantly evolving one cell at a time towards perfection (all thanks to your continuous support!). Every wishlist, every demo download and every piece of feedback from you, our passionate community, motivate me to keep working on the game, and are essential nutrition for the game to grow and flourish. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for joining me on this game dev journey.

Before we end this blog, here are a few screenshots on the biomes I've been working on, and a brand-new upgrade system for your colony to evolve:

WIP Upgrade System:

*This upgrade system will only be available in the full game.

The demo is close to feature complete, and I’m currently working on implementing more language support to bring it to gamers around the world. And of course, there are more plants, cells and other new content in the works. Follow Primordial Empire on our Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Discord to see the latest updates, and more importantly, get exclusive sneak peeks at work-in-progress content coming to the full game!
