Primordial Empire changes
Hey everyone!
A new demo update just dropped, with new enemies, new units and buildings, and new harvestable resources! That’s why instead of the usual monthly blog, today we are jumping straight into all the cool new stuff coming to Primordial Empire in this patch.
A Risky Harvest☣️
You can now find contaminated remains scattered across the map. This is a new type of resource that can be harvested for plenty of DNA. There’s one drawback though: you might uncover viruses lurking within the decayed biomatter!
New Danger Revealed 🦠
That brings us to the Virus, a new danger introduced in this update. Once released, they will float around the primordial soup idly, waiting for a host to approach. When they spot their next victim, they will latch on and reproduce inside the host. The host then bursts open, releasing more viruses into the wild.
More Firepower🔫
To fend off this new threat, the colony is adapting by welcoming a new member to the collective. The Medusa (nicknamed the Jellies) is a new type of combat unit with a powerful ranged attack that can destroy viruses. They are quite fragile themselves though, and cannot attack plants. Build Medusean Polyp plants to start spawning them!
Other changes
I’ve also made several changes to the pheromone controls and recycling tool. You can see the full details in the patch notes at the end. Other demo updates during October are also included. Thanks for playing my demo and follow Primordial Empire on Twitter, YouTube and TikTok to get more news, guides and memes of the game!
v0.3.4_demo patch notes
New danger: Viruses. Float idly through the environment but latch onto any being that strays too close. Once attached, they reproduce inside the host until it bursts, releasing more viruses.
New harvestable resource: Contaminated Remains. Contain large amounts of DNA, but digging them out may release viruses.
New organisms added to the collective: Medusean Polyp (plant) & Medusas (spawn, combat unit).
Medusas are fragile and cannot attack plants, but their ranged attack is powerful — and the only way to eliminate viruses.
The genetic code of the Medusean Polyp can be found in Goodie Boxes on Combat- and Bonus-Scenario maps.
Improved pheromone and recycling tools: You can now click-and-hold across multiple selection buttons to multi-select.
Attractive Pheromone:
Click a non-selected button → select this cell type exclusively,
Click a selected button → deselect this cell type,
Click and drag from a non-selected button → first deselect all, then select this group,
Click and drag from a selected button → deselect this group,
Hold Shift + click → toggle selection,
Hold Shift + drag → toggle selection status for all buttons in this group,
Repulsive Pheromone/Recycle tool:
Acts like holding shift in Attractive Pheromone (i.e., toggle),
Added 4-layer parallax background for lush biome
