addedIt has been difficult to keep motivation levels high when the game has effectively stopped selling. We've sold three copies so far in 2025, after selling about one hundred in 2024 (many of those came shortly after we released to Early Access). I have big plans for the game though, and I want to work on progression, engagement, and providing a variety of content and gameplay to engage new players but also keep existing players coming back.
addedWhile I would like to keep pushing out smaller regular updates, it quickly became apparent that the introduction of Arena mode adds a lot to the game, and I wanted to get it right before pushing live. Along with the introduction of Arena mode I have been playing with balancing and changes to the Snake and Maze modes to improve the introductory experience.
addedProgression tracking. Unlock new levels by completing them in order, with branching, split difficulties, and a star rating per level (along with the existing leaderboards). - Arena mode. Deathmatch style matches where you have to get other bikes to crash in to your trail to score points. Respawn on death. Continue until the time limit is reached. - Map dimensions modified. Quick, and Tough levels now are a little more restricted, meaning quicker completion times, but less time to react to turns too. We generally found that giving the player more space to manoeuvre wasn't necessarily required, and the longer straight stretches led to players getting bored. The more restricted maps definitely evoke a more arcade-like experience. - Slight changes to bike stats. Bike turn arcs have been tweaked for the updated level sizes.
addedThe core of Arena mode is a deathmatch style battle where players earn points by getting bikes to crash in to their trails. After some testing and a lot of tweaking, we've set a core group of rules and introduced some gameplay mechanics which make the mode more dynamic, fun, and challenging:
fixedBike trail has a fixed maximum length. Similar to Snake mode, there is a maximum length for the trails in Arena mode, which is currently set to 20 blocks. - Bikes can boost. Boosting consumes your trail (with an on-screen bar to indicate boost available). Once your trail is consumed, you have to wait until it has grown sufficiently to allow you to boost again. Balancing boosting, while using your trail to decimate your rivals offers some strategy to Arena mode. - Bikes respawn on death. A safe clear space in the level is found and the player will respawn. - Crashing, removes your trail. In intense games it can get pretty hectic with trails disintegrating as you pass through them as they've become inert by their bike crashing! - Crashing in to your own trail removes a point from your own score (you can end on negative points). - An on-screen leaderboard is displayed, as well as the round timer.

February already?!

We've been quiet through January, since we pushed our Snake mode live. We've been discussing changes to the game with people that are playing it, and looking at how we're going to shape the game going forwards.

It has been difficult to keep motivation levels high when the game has effectively stopped selling. We've sold three copies so far in 2025, after selling about one hundred in 2024 (many of those came shortly after we released to Early Access). I have big plans for the game though, and I want to work on progression, engagement, and providing a variety of content and gameplay to engage new players but also keep existing players coming back.

While I would like to keep pushing out smaller regular updates, it quickly became apparent that the introduction of Arena mode adds a lot to the game, and I wanted to get it right before pushing live. Along with the introduction of Arena mode I have been playing with balancing and changes to the Snake and Maze modes to improve the introductory experience.

A number of changes are coming with the 0.2 update, including:

- Progression tracking.

Please note: Since the levels and bikes are changing, all leaderboards will be reset with the 0.2 update. They may also be reset with future major updates too, prior to our full release and exit from Early Access.

Arena Mode:

The core of Arena mode is a deathmatch style battle where players earn points by getting bikes to crash in to their trails. After some testing and a lot of tweaking, we've set a core group of rules and introduced some gameplay mechanics which make the mode more dynamic, fun, and challenging:

- Bike trail has a fixed maximum length.

Arena mode will introduce Rivals. Named enemies you will encounter in the vs AI games. These
