Apologies for the delay

changedAs I was starting to get back in to the mood to work on Positron, my Wife blocks me on everything, for no reason, says I can't see the kids, and they can't come to my house. I've definitely spiralled a bit since then, feeling pretty low, feeling sick inside, and not knowing what is going on. I lost all motivation to work on Positron, and I had REALLY wanted to get the Arena and local splitscreen modes out for Steam's PvP Fest, but I missed that.
changedThen, this morning I had my catchup call with Antoine Hirschland at Full Circle. He has been my Mentor through West Yorkshire Combined Authority's Creative Export Program. I have a decent head for business, but planning and preparation is where Antoine has really helped, with projections, and making plans to attend international events. This morning we went over some rough sales projections for Positron and Retroburn's next game.
addedI also started reading two new books recently, and those too have had a similar effect: The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett and What's your Dream by Simon Squibb. Both are far more than books about business, and they've made me feel a lot more positive, even if my personal situation hasn't changed at all in recent weeks.
changedSo, Positron isn't dead. I'm considering just cleaning up a few rough edges and putting out Arena and split-screen multiplayer as they are now, rough, and unfinished. I plan to push these changes live to the current Early Access version some time this month, then regroup and figure out a plan for the future, and hopefully try to find regular time to work on the game and get it finished. I still stick by my 2026 roadmap from the previous post, but it's going to be hard work!

Last week I was ready to give up on Positron, and Retroburn.

Late last year I separated from my Wife after 18 years together and 16 years of marriage. Shortly after, having spent a month sleeping on the sofa, I got an offer to take out a £5000 loan, which was exactly what I needed to be able to move out, get my own place, buy furniture, appliances, and get settled, all while supporting my Wife during the transition too. We applied for divorce, and things were feeling good, my kids helped me move and came over a few times to eat and play boardgames.

I barely had any time to work Positron, but I had a rough roadmap of what I wanted to achieve in the coming year. Positron has sold 197 copies on Steam Early Access, and just broke £1000 at Christmas, which meant I could pay Chris and Eduardo £100 each (their first 10% cut) for their contributions (music, and 3d models)!

My day job at Rebellion North has kept me busy, and has been a lifeline through all this, as I feel valued, working on a small team porting Sniper Elite 5 to iPhone and Mac. I cycle 11 miles to work each day, and have a couple of conversations with colleagues throughout the day, which is the only time I get to talk to people in person.

As I was starting to get back in to the mood to work on Positron, my Wife blocks me on everything, for no reason, says I can't see the kids, and they can't come to my house. I've definitely spiralled a bit since then, feeling pretty low, feeling sick inside, and not knowing what is going on. I lost all motivation to work on Positron, and I had REALLY wanted to get the Arena and local splitscreen modes out for Steam's PvP Fest, but I missed that.

That call had me feeling much more positive. I know there's A LOT of work still to do on the game. I can see where it might lead, and need to keep the vision in my mind at all times, the end goal, the finish line.

I also started reading two new books recently, and those too have had a similar effect: The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett and What's your Dream by Simon Squibb. Both are far more than books about business, and they've made me feel a lot more positive, even if my personal situation hasn't changed at all in recent weeks.
