Major Update Now Live – Preparing for Release

A new update for Pompeii: The Legacy is now live!

This is one of the final major updates before the full release, bringing a wide range of improvements across gameplay systems, balance, UI, and overall experience. The goal with this update was to refine core mechanics and prepare the game for its final version.

What’s New

This update focuses heavily on improving the core systems of the game:

  • Trade has been rebalanced to better reflect each city’s role

  • Health and disease systems have been expanded with seasonal influenza and more impactful outbreaks

  • Education and entertainment systems have been reworked for clearer and more consistent behavior

  • A brand-new Army Panel has been added, giving better insight into your military

  • New city interaction mechanics like Feasts and Games add more depth to citizen management

  • A new building: Weaponsmith

Alongside this, there are many UI improvements, new notifications, better feedback systems, and a number of performance optimizations, especially in the late game.

What’s Next

The full release is approaching, and the next update will be the largest and final version of the game.

Until then, I’ll continue polishing and fixing anything that comes up based on your feedback.

The campaign has now been fully developed and tested. It will be unlocked shortly before release.

🏛️ Gameplay, Balance & UI Improvements

  • Rebalanced trade by adjusting which resources each city buys and sells • Removed mine durability values and updated Mine Durability research • Removed consumption radius from Apothecary Houses • Added resource consumption toggle for all imported goods in the stock panel • Added new notifications • Added service coverage info to building hints (School, Library, Academy, Market) • Removed unnecessary production bar from Arena and Theatre

🏥 Health & Disease System

  • Introduced seasonal influenza, temporarily reducing citizens' health • Improved balance of Medicine and Herbs consumption, especially during flu season • Increased disease impact — health now drops more significantly during outbreaks • Added notifications for Influenza and Plague outbreaks • Fixed and improved health impact from service buildings (Hospital, Bathhouse, Barber, Toilet) • Houses now display how much health benefit they receive from nearby buildings

🎓 Education & Entertainment

  • Reworked Education system (School, Library, Academy now properly affect citizens) • Added “Serviced” parameter to education buildings • Reworked Entertainment system to function similarly to Education • Added ability to host games in Arena and Circus

⚔️ Army & Military

  • New Army Panel o Displays morale o Shows number of soldiers o Added unit description o Added button to change unit type o Displays total number of Barracks o Shows weekly food consumption o Shows total army size • Added Barracks upgrade state display • Combat system will remain locked until release

🎉 City Hall & Feasts

  • Added “Perform Feast” action to City Hall • Feast increases Happiness by +20% and lasts 30 days • Cost scales with city population • Added new objective: Perform Feast

🏗️ Buildings & Content

  • Added new buildingWeaponsmith • Fixed hit mesh and bounding sphere issues • Added additional upgrade to Sawmill • Improved Mushroom production and other production chains • Fixed Advanced Fishing • Updated research bonuses (Reservoir capacity increase +20 area) • Added new research (Luxury Food – Beginner tier, Advanced & Master Food Production)

⚙️ Technical & Performance

  • Improved logging and debugging tools • Multiple performance optimizations for late-game rendering

📖 Campaign
