Pompeii: The Legacy changes
Ave, Governors!
First of all, I'd like to apologize for being a little quieter over the last few weeks. The development of the tools needed to create maps more efficiently ended up taking longer than expected. While those tools will help me in the future, the maps themselves are still largely hand-painted and handcrafted, so creating these two new maps required quite a bit of work as well.
The good news is that the foundation is now in place. I already have additional maps planned for later this summer, and from now on I expect updates to return to a more regular schedule, roughly every one to two weeks.
One of the most requested features since release has been more maps, and today I'm happy to finally deliver them!
Patch v1.006.0
New Features
Added two brand-new maps to the game
Added a map selection panel for Sandbox and Creative modes
In Sandbox and Creative modes, the City Center can now be placed almost anywhere on the map instead of being restricted to the southern area
Improvements
Improved LOD distances on a number of buildings
Added several new grasses and plants to existing biomes to support the new maps
Improved roof rendering performance
Better balancing for the upgrade costs of several buildings
Fixes
Fixed various localization and text issues across several languages
Fixed an issue where walls on some Insula buildings could display incorrect tangents at LOD0, causing visible flickering when moving the camera
Coming Later This Week
A new update is already planned for the end of the week and will include:
Several new plaza types
Citizens appearing around and inside more buildings
Improved movement throughout the city
My goal is to continue making Pompeii feel more alive with each update.
Thank You
As always, thank you for your continued support, feedback, bug reports, suggestions, screenshots, save files, and patience.
Seeing players continue to build new cities, share their creations, and help improve Pompeii: The Legacy gives me the motivation to keep working on the game every day.
I hope you enjoy the new maps, and I look forward to seeing the cities you build on them!
