addedPlaytest Date UpdateI honestly wasn’t expecting 30,000+ signups, and I need a bit more time to prep the build so the first test is stable and actually useful. The pressure is 100% on, I just want to deliver the best game physically possible. We were rushing things as I just want to get the game out to all of you ASAP, quality must come first & it allows us more time to add some cool community decided things! The good news… it’s only a 2-week delay .
changedHow the First Playtest Will WorkSince this is the first time the community will be getting access, we’re keeping the first wave small and controlled so we can test stability, catch major bugs, and avoid the chaos of 30k+ people jumping in at once.

Playtest Date Update

Our first playtest has been moved from February 6th to February 20th!

This wasn’t in the slightest an easy call, but a necessary one.

I honestly wasn’t expecting 30,000+ signups, and I need a bit more time to prep the build so the first test is stable and actually useful. The pressure is 100% on, I just want to deliver the best game physically possible. We were rushing things as I just want to get the game out to all of you ASAP, quality must come first & it allows us more time to add some cool community decided things! The good news… it’s only a 2-week delay.

How the First Playtest Will Work

Since this is the first time the community will be getting access, we’re keeping the first wave small and controlled so we can test stability, catch major bugs, and avoid the chaos of 30k+ people jumping in at once.

For the first playtest, access will go to trusted community members and top Patreon supporters. From there, we’ll gradually expand.

The first playtest will be a small vertical slice of ORMOD, not the full experience yet, but enough to start stress testing and shaping what comes next.

Each playtest after that will allow more players in, include more features/content, and move closer to larger-scale access. We will be holding votes with the community on new features & what to focus on between playtests! This means you guys will be able to decide where ORMOD goes, taking more time allows us to do this! More on this below.

Discord vs Steam Signups

To clear things up here! Discord sign-ups are still the priority over Steam sign-ups, but access isn’t guaranteed for the first playtest due to limited slots.

If you’ve signed up, you **will** be let in eventually though, an announcement will be made later!

Streaming & Content Creation

Yes! Streaming and content creation are allowed for all playtests, for everyone!

We want you making videos, clips, highlights, chaos compilations, death compilations, whatever you’re into.

In the future, we’ll have special rewards and deals to offer the top content creators. If you’re a creator and have not signed up for the official ORMOD Creator Program yet, check it out in Discord!

Voting & Community Guided Roadmap

One of the most exciting parts of our playtests is that we’ll hold voting sessions with Patreon supporters and the full community to decide which part of the game to test next!

The goal here is to shift ORMOD to as much of a community-focused game as possible, as it's your game, allowing the community to choose the direction of the game, not profits.

Once voting begins, we’ll build a clear roadmap so everyone can follow progress and see what’s coming, and when.

Patreon Update (No Pressure!)

I’ve been asked (and asked and asked) to set up a Patreon so people can support me in this solo development journey. I’m so grateful for how kind and supportive everyone has been. Thank you. Seriously.

The ORMOD Patreon is now up!

Check it out here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/House16Software

Patreon supporters will get:

  • priority voting on development direction before & after launch

  • ongoing exclusive content and benefits

  • priority playtest access!

  • limited-time founding supporter rewards (I really want early supporters to feel appreciated forever)

SUPER IMPORTANT:

If you’d rather not support via Patreon, that’s completely fine! You’re not any less part of the ORMOD community.

There will be more opportunities to support in other ways later, and everyone will still have access to updates, videos, and community content.

I’m just adding options because so many of you have been asking for ways to support and access things sooner.

Seriously guys, thanks again for being here. The response to ORMOD has been unreal, well beyond what I could have hoped to imagine. I can’t wait to start letting you all in.

Q&A Next week in Discord!

More news soon.
