Foreword

Hey everyone! After my graphics card fried, a very kind person sponsored a used replacement, bringing this whole odyssey to an end. While a few parts of this update were already pushed out, the complete patch (which was ready over a week ago) is now live!

Bandits

Finally! The first Raiders... I mean... Bandits are here! They are evil, ruthless, always have a stupid comeback ready, and always deserve a good lesson. They have already occupied the new iron mine in the northwestern mountains and set up their camps there.

  • What you see is what you get. Whatever clothing and weapons you see on the bandits, you will also be able to loot from them, though they will be damaged of course. Have fun stripping them down.

  • After they are defeated, their inventory can be accessed directly.

  • 2 new tops and pants have been added to match the style of the bandits.

  • The already existing bandit outfit, which you could already see on Nadja in Minestra, has been upgraded.

  • The recipes for crafting the new bandit outfit drop exclusively from bandits.

  • Bandits and all related content now have the standard respawn time of one week.

Their movement might still be a little shaky at times, as their pathfinding system will receive a dedicated update soon.

Mountains Reworked

The mountains have been completely reworked and now appear in a brand-new look.

  • In the new archaeology area, you can now always find 4-6 digging spots (1-week respawn).

  • In the first, rather harmless cave, you can now always find salt deposits (1-week respawn).

  • The quarry and the dwarf cave are now much easier to reach.

  • A new iron mine has been added.

  • Many more changes.

Release Character

A new Release Character button has been added next to the Feedback button. If your character ever becomes stuck or the controls freeze for any reason, you can use this button to restore character control. It seems there’s a bug occasionally popping up that locks the character after using a weapon. Since I haven't been able to reproduce it yet, I wanted to provide a quick workaround until the root cause is found and fixed. I'm on it!

Controller Support Notice

Added a controller support note to the in-game controls menu and Steam store page. It explains that disabling Steam Input may help if controller issues occur.

Gamepad Input Clarity

This is a naming change to reduce confusion between different interaction types.

  • Interact (unchanged)

  • Activate → Action

  • Execute Item → Use Tool

  • Use Item (unchanged)

Gamepad Controls

  • Preset: Toggle Run has been mapped to Left Stick Press.

  • Preset: Toggle Sneak has been assigned to D-Pad Left.

  • The Interact key can now also be used to click UI elements while the cursor is hovering over them.

  • Increased the right cursor stick deadzone by 50 % to reduce unintended movement when clicking.

Usable Items

To improve clarity, usable items in the inventory are now marked with a new visual indicator, making them easier to identify at a glance. Usable items, such as consumables, food, equipment, containers, and more, should still be easy to recognize by their icons. The tooltip will also continue to indicate whether an item is usable.

Improvements

  • Improved performance in several areas.

  • The character's death animation has been upgraded, and an additional one has been added.

  • The old main menu track has been replaced with one that fits the game much better.

  • Objects now slightly wobble when taking damage.

  • Various caves have been updated.

  • Various adjustments and improvements across multiple systems.

Fixes

  • Fixed various colliders for Nibbels that caused inaccurate interactions.

  • The inventory sorting now correctly updates inventory icon flags again.

  • Inputs are now correctly validated when creating a new save.

  • The butterfly net now properly goes 'wooosh' again upon use.

  • The shadow transparency is now correctly restored after leaving invisibility from the Veilwalk spell.

  • The interior of the Hunter's and Witch's houses is now lit correctly again.

  • Equipping shoes no longer causes the right pant leg to turn white when wearing dyeable pants.

  • The dust cloud from running now disappears correctly when quickly transitioning from running into a dialogue.

  • Fixed an issue where an error would occasionally pop up when interacting with the calendar. Thank you for the report, Alexiis!
