Not Quite Dead: Open World Survival changes
This week brought several major improvements to Not Quite Dead, including better vehicle collisions, new vehicles, multiplayer improvements, a brand-new diner location, and new tools for repairing damaged cars.
Vehicle Collision Improvements
Finally! Vehicle collisions have been improved when hitting buildings, props, terrain, and other obstacles.
Vehicles should now react more naturally instead of becoming stuck, behaving unpredictably, or causing major collision problems.
New Vehicles
Several new vehicles have been added:
A new armored vehicle can now be found at the Race Track. • The armored vehicle has 900 HP, making it one of the toughest vehicles currently available. • A new helicopter has been added. • A new SUV has been added to the world. • Driver and passenger positions have been improved, so both players now sit correctly inside vehicles.
New Diner Location
A new abandoned diner area has been added to the map.
The location includes wrecked vehicles, vegetation, environmental details, enemies, and areas to explore for useful loot. It also connects directly to the nearby road, making it a recognizable stopping point while travelling across the map.
Just remember: an open diner does not necessarily mean the food is still good.
Friend List Improvements
The multiplayer friend system is also receiving several improvements.
Players will now be able to:
Search for friends by name. • See clearer friend invitation messages. • Navigate an improved friend list interface. • More easily invite other survivors into their game.
New Right-Click Item Actions
A new context menu is being added when right-clicking items inside the inventory.
Depending on the selected item, the available options can include:
Learn • Place • Consume • Disassemble • Split
This should make inventory management faster and reduce the number of separate buttons needed for item interactions.
Item Stack Splitting
Item stacks can now be split directly from the inventory.
This will make it easier to organize storage, divide resources between players, or carry only the amount of an item that you need.
Vehicle Repair System
A new Drill Blueprint has been added.
After learning and crafting the Drill, players will be able to use it as part of the vehicle repair system.
The Drill recipe currently requires:
Metal Scrap • Plastic Scrap • An Impact Socket
The new Impact Socket is a separate item that players must find before they can craft the Drill. This gives exploration and scavenging another important purpose, especially for players who rely heavily on vehicles. Steam post image
Tutorial Cinematic
A new cinematic is being added the first time a player begins the tutorial.
This introduction will help establish the atmosphere of the game and provide a smoother transition into the opening tutorial sequence.
Controls and Collision Fixes
Several smaller gameplay fixes were also completed:
CTRL is now used to crouch. • C is now used to walk. • Collision problems inside houses have been fixed. • Vehicle passenger positioning has been improved. • General vehicle collision behavior has been improved.
More Coming Soon
We are continuing to improve the world, vehicles, multiplayer systems, inventory interactions, and overall gameplay experience.
Thank you to everyone testing Not Quite Dead, reporting bugs, and sharing feedback. Every report helps make the game better.
Stay alive, keep scavenging, and maybe check the expiration date before eating anything you find inside the diner.
