Not Quite Dead: Open World Survival changes
Over the past few days, I have been working on several fixes, balance changes, and new small gameplay improvements for Not Quite Dead.
This update focuses on improving vehicle gameplay, fixing map and loot issues, adding a new melee weapon, and making the world feel a little smoother to explore.
Creator Program
A new form has been added for YouTube creators who want to participate in the Free Game Key Program.
To participate, creators need:
300+ YouTube subscribers
3 videos about Not Quite Dead
Each video must be at least 30 minutes long
The form must be completed with the channel, videos, and contact information
Selected creators will receive a free game key at launch.
New Weapon: Spiked Baseball Bat
A new melee weapon has been added: the Spiked Baseball Bat.
This weapon can be crafted using:
Homemade Baseball Club
Nails
Zombies can also now drop:
Spiked Baseball Bat Blueprint — 5% drop chance
Spiked Baseball Bat — 1% drop chance
Vehicle Improvements
Several vehicle-related fixes and improvements have been made.
Cars and boats should now feel better and more stable to use. I also fixed multiple collision and damage issues affecting vehicles.
Changes include:
Fixed car fuel consumption timing
Fixed car collision damage
Fixed car and truck collision
Fixed rusty boat storage issues
Fixed boat driving speed
Fixed the wrench/drill repair tool
The wrench/drill can now be used to repair cars when held in hand. Each use restores 100 vehicle health, and the tool can be used 5 times before breaking.
The tool is now correctly removed when its durability reaches 0 for both client and host.
A repair animation will be added in a future update.
Map, Loot & World Fixes
I also fixed several issues around the map and world interactions.
Fixes include:
Fixed loot spawning underground
Increased loot zone size
Fixed boxes at the harbor
Fixed snow rendering on roads
Fixed wall placement
Fixed chest animation
Reworked many trees around the map
The goal is to make exploration feel cleaner, more consistent, and less frustrating.
Radiation Zone Improvements
Zombie traps in the radiation zone have been adjusted.
They now spawn inside buildings instead of directly in front of the player. This should make encounters feel more natural and less weird.
Gameplay & Balance
Some gameplay and balance changes were also added.
Changes include:
Added an Unstuck button
Can only be used on the main map
Has a 3-minute cooldown
Removed Mike’s workbench
Edited Mike’s character
Bandit NPC health reduced from 500 HP to 300 HP
Zombie health increased from 150 HP to 225 HP
Removed the “3, 2, 1, GO!” countdown in the lobby
Fixed sleeping bags so they can now be picked back up
Thanks for Playing
Thank you to everyone testing the game, reporting bugs, sending feedback, and making videos.
