We wanted to share more about the direction we want to take for Not Quite Dead and some of the ideas we are exploring to make the world feel more rewarding, dangerous, and alive.

🗺️ Survive, Prepare, Move Toward The Center

One of the main ideas behind the world progression is to make exploration feel natural.

Players will spawn around the outer parts of the map where survival is easier and resources are more accessible.

As you move deeper into the world, danger slowly increases.

The center of the map is planned to become the most dangerous area in the game.

Stronger enemies, more radiation, rare loot, unique events, and better rewards will all be concentrated there.

The idea is simple:

The closer you get to the center… the more prepared you need to be.

☢️ Progression Through Radiation

To reach deeper and more dangerous areas, players will need to progress through equipment upgrades.

One of the first important goals will be finding and crafting the Gas Mask Blueprint.

With better protection and preparation, players will be able to enter contaminated zones and continue pushing toward the center.

But this is only the beginning.

🧪 Explore Dangerous Zones

Radiation zones will become more than just places with stronger enemies.

Our goal is to make them feel unique by adding:

  • Abandoned labs to explore

  • Hidden bunkers

  • Better loot and rare crafting materials

  • Environmental storytelling

  • High-risk, high-reward exploration

Some locations may contain special rewards for players willing to take the risk.

🧟 Hives & World Threats

We are also exploring systems where certain areas become controlled by dangerous infected activity.

Destroying these threats could:

  • Reduce enemy presence nearby

  • Unlock safer areas

  • Create a feeling of progression in the world

We want the map to feel more dynamic and react to player actions.

🎒 Random Encounters & Exploration

To make exploration more exciting, we are thinking about adding:

  • Random NPC encounters

  • Wandering traders with unique items

  • Ambush events

  • Rare supply drops

  • Dangerous surprises hidden across the world

The idea is simple:

You should never fully know what waits behind the next hill.

🔥 More Places To Discover

We also want to continue expanding exploration with:

  • More places to visit

  • More secrets

  • More points of interest

  • Additional loot opportunities

  • More reasons to explore every corner of the world

Our goal is to polish the game as much as possible and make every session feel different.

We also plan to support multiple languages at release so more players around the world can enjoy the experience.

Thank you for all the feedback so far ❤️ Please continue filling out the survey and sharing ideas — your feedback helps shape Not Quite Dead and makes the game better every update.

See you in the next devblog.
