changedA friendlier TutorialThere's a lot going on in NITRO GEN OMEGA. Resources to manage, stats to keep in check, mood to balance and marbles to earn. Despite being a turn based RPG, sometimes the amount of information feels overwhelming, especially during the first few hours. A friendlier Tutorial

There's a lot going on in NITRO GEN OMEGA. Resources to manage, stats to keep in check, mood to balance and marbles to earn. Despite being a turn based RPG, sometimes the amount of information feels overwhelming, especially during the first few hours. We designed a gradual introduction to the mechanics but we didn't fully hit the mark.

Until now.

The revamped tutorial will help new players understand the complex yet eyecatching mechanisms of NITRO GEN OMEGA in a way we think will please you.

New floating dialogue boxes are now delivering information that were somewhat implied before, while a spotlight mechanism will guide your gaze in areas you should pay attention to.

Some concepts have received a more in depth explanation while others are now introduced in a more gradual way. We're also wiping away some “what ifs?” that were unanswered until it was too late like “Why is my Mech not ready?”.

Please let us know what do you think!

New situational missions

On top of the new tutorial, we have two missions that trigger if you somehow are left with less than four pilots or if any of your pilots are gravely wounded.

We also rewrote the introduction to the Sonar which will also nudge you towards a more action packed area of the map right from the get go.

New Enemies

Two new enemies will join the fray. We have a foe that likes to hunt you from afar called Stymphalian and its variants with a different arsenal. On the other hand we have something called Pillager that likes to get more up close and personal while being quite elusive.

How to access the Beta

You will find a Beta branch right here on Steam called "Permanent Beta".

You can access the Beta branch by right clicking on NITRO GEN OMEGA > Properties > Betas and choosing it from the drop-down menu.

The Beta comes with an important warning: BACK UP YOUR SAVEFILES.

Loading an existing save file might make it incompatible with the regular version of the game. Handle with care.

Your savefiles are located in %localappdata%\\Overdrive\\Saved\\SaveGames

Since the previous patch we also have an automatic backup feature. Your savefiles should be automatically backed up the first time you launch the beta but if you want to be extra safe: do your own backup! (we all press Ctrl+S at least 3-4 times all the time anyway).

What needs testing

We're particularly interested in:

  • Load your savefiles and let us know if everything is in order. Are your quests all in progress?

  • Are you noticing any changes in the battles? Any orders not working?

  • Are you enjoying the Tutorial?

  • Do you love/hate the new enemies?

Please let us know your thoughts here on the Steam forums or on Discord. We have a pretty nice community going on there so check it out! Join the Discord

More cool stuff to come soon. We've been sharing the latest on our development streams on Twitch.

Stay in school!
