Crew, we have a major update!

After a couple of weeks in open beta, the Patriot Update is now out for everybody!

This update introduces a new playable mech alongside the Resonant Accord quest line and more!

A New Mech

It all started with the Monki. It was the first design that internally really clicked. We made it into our starting mech and more or less the symbol of NGO. As our starting mech it needed to be sort of well rounded and offer a bit of everything. Most of all I think we tried to make it high in survivability.

Then we moved on to the Ocelot: a ranged-focused Mech with a giant revolver on its arm. This is where we started to play with the idea of highly specialized mechs. After the Ocelot it only made sense to go with a melee-focused model and that's how the Patriot was born.

Internally we always called it the "Boxer" and in it you can probably see many different inspirations - from Hajime no Ippo to SFIII's Dudley. Then came the Resonant Accord and we styled its personality and moveset accordingly.

The Patriot can be unlocked following a brand new quest line in Resonant Prime.

It's a melee-focused mech with some limited ranged options that is all about getting up close and personal with some interesting options to isolate targets and rain punches on them.

It sports a unique combo mechanic that sets it apart from the Monki and Ocelot.

Alongside the Patriot you can find

  • 80+ unique parts for the Patriot

  • Loads of Tuning items unique to the new mech

  • 2 achievements related to Patriot's quest line

A new Quest Line

It's time to get properly introduced to the Resonant Accord - one of the many factions that inhabit the continent and the only one with a plan to defeat the machines! (or so they say).

The quest line begins after completing "The Road to Resonant Prime" from the Traders' Gyld and it will lead you to meet new interesting characters and ultimately unlock the Patriot.

Peace in the Continent!

Quality of Life

  • Parts comparison has been added to the game both in the Loadout screen and in stores.

  • Other minor improvements

Please note that most of the Quality of Life improvements are coming in the 1.0 update. Stay tuned for more news and devlogs in the coming weeks.

Other Improvements and Fixes from the Permanent Beta

  • Fixed issues with Push To Corner, flamethrower damage and electrified status

  • Overall the Patriot has been buffed significantly since the start of the beta. We plan to continue to monitor its status as more players get their hands on it and possibly adjust it further before the 1.0 release.

  • Tuning now properly consumes the parts used in the process.

  • Fixed the missile explosion animation caused by Countermeasures.

  • Fixed an issue where the Ocelot was unable to complete the reload

  • Some fine tuning on enemies

  • Some performances and UI improvements.

  • Localization update.

  • Minor bug fixes.

What’s next for NGO?

As mentioned in our Roadmap we're going to conclude the early access with the deployment of the main quest.

This is as good a time as any to remind everybody again that the Main Quest will require a brand new savefile in order to be experienced so on 1.0 you will have to start over (don't worry we're adding a "Skip Tutorial" option).

We have been working on the Main Quest and the 1.0 update for a minute now and it appears it's
