# 🔧 Nion Forge – Demo Patch 0.5.14

Hello Pilots,

this will likely be one of the final demo patches:). Our full focus is now on finishing the game.

ːsteamthisː Forge Cores ːsteamthisː

With this patch, we’re introducing a major new system.

Forge Cores are designed to give you more freedom in your builds while also providing a noticeable advantage for larger ships.

Cores can be found during a run starting from District 2 through various actions. They are divided into:

  • Weapon Cores

  • Defense Cores

  • Support Cores

  • Upgrade-Weapon Cores

Each ship has its own inventory, including a slot bar for socketing Cores.

The number and distribution of slots are determined by the modules you install:

The more modules you equip, the more Core slots become available. If you install the same module multiple times, the corresponding slots receive a multiplier. A new display in the hangar has been added to show this.

The possible effects range from protection and increased thrust to cross-scaling between different weapon classes.

For example, you can grant your Rocket Launcher additional Bullet Damage scaling.

In total, 37 unique Cores have been added to the game.

Upgrade-Weapon Cores

In the full game, each upgrade weapon will receive two Cross-Scaling Cores. These not only increase damage but also add new tactical effects.

Examples:

  • The Head Cannon can either trigger explosions on kill or set enemies on fire on critical hits. However, you must choose one of these variants.

For the demo, we’ve added two Cores each for the following weapons:

  • Head Cannon

  • Spread Gun

  • Rocket Launcher

  • Shock Nova

  • Orbital Laser

  • Backfire Beam

You must first select the weapon at a boss. In subsequent boss fights, there is a chance that instead of another upgrade weapon, you’ll be offered a matching Core.

In the full game, after 8 Districts, you’ll typically end up with a combination of 4 upgrade weapons and 4 Upgrade-Weapon Cores.

When you choose to take a new weapon or a Core is largely up to you.

We hope you enjoy these additions.
