I've been spending a lot of time improving our pipeline for content delivery so that things can continue to operate smoothly and faster than ever as the years go on while making sure that important bugs are fixed and pain points are addressed with existing gameplay before adding more features. I've been working on making the workflow for artists to push asset updates and programmers to push code updates faster and automated.

Today's Update

We're welcoming a new programmer (Kai) onto the team! He's still learning to work on Nin Online, but hopefully his full-time attention on the programming requirements will speed up development even further in the near future.

There's always ever increasing requirements when running a live service operation like Nin Online.

Features

  • New Anti-Botting Mechanics You don't need to know what they are! Most players will never ever need to interface with this system

  • Added more auto-moderation to Hawk/Global Messages Uses language models to detect harmful language before allowing it to be sent. Attempting to even send them can result in warnings on your account. Please only use Hawk messages with appropriate content.

  • (Devs) Item Explosion Jutsu Mechanic We added a new mechanic to be used in the future for exploding Map Items (eg. Dropping Ryo or Explosive Tags around the map as an item and then blowing them up)

  • (Devs) Added developer permission to bypass level limit This is to test new in-game content before raising level limit for everyonee

Content

  • Added Desert Bandit Mask to Sand Accessory Shop (as Sand Exclusive Item)

Changes

  • Anti-Zerg feature now only counts unrested players

  • Changed Stone Axe requirement to level 16 and Fishing Rods to 20

  • Earlier prevention of casting buffs on player with differing PvP Mode Previously, this would wait until the player finished the cast time to inform them it would not work. Now it stops you the moment you try casting it.

  • Added a confirmation prompt when Linking Hitspark ID to Steam Account Warns users that the linking is permanent, as players are not supposed to have login access to any accounts they do not own, and hence have no reason to not link it to their Steam account.

  • (Backend) Removed hardcoded Battle Injuries not being removed after death Unnecessary because a new feature was added a long time ago to handle this

  • (Backend) Lots of code cleanup

Balance

  • Attack speed of 2 tile staves changed from 2.0s to 2.5s

  • Reduced base damage on Adamantine Staff from 36 to 34

  • Reduced base damage on Reinforced Bo Staff from 27 to 26

  • Increased Int requirement on Reinforced Bo Staff from 45 to 60

  • Blood Pipe was meant to be an end-game item, but it became too powerful due to the use of triple bubbles. With upcoming content and changes in mind, Blood Pipe has been adjusted to ensure players can compete without being overwhelmed.

    • Blood Pipe strength requirement reduced from 130 to 115

    • Blood Pipe attack speed increased from 3.8s to 3s

    • Blood Pipe no longer places 3 bubbles

    • Blood Pipe now applies Bleeding level 3 instead of level 1

    • Blood Pipe lifesteal increased from 10% to 20% (Experimental)

    • Blood Pipe snare reduced from 2s to 1.8s

    • Blood Pipe level requirement reduced from 60 to 57

    • (Fix) Blood Pipe now properly scales using Agility Attack Speed system

Bug Fixes

  • (Hopefully) Fixed a bug where certain buffs would end abruptly or unexpectedly on both players and NPCs

  • Hardened possibility of accidental buff cancels due to misclicks

  • Properly clear summons when Tournament Match starts

  • Fix to stale dynamic NPC references issue

  • Fix to eliminate the map warp stuck errors completely

  • Fixed a bug where maps would no longer spawn projectiles

  • Fixed a bug where casting jutsu or using items could cancel abruptly

  • Fixed the bug where typing in the chatbox your "Open Fullscreen Minimap" Keybind would cause chat mode to be exited

  • (Backend) Fixed a character saving error from the server I've been trying to fix for awhile now

  • (Backend) Fix array index out of bounds crash caused by Player Warping between maps
