addedLots of things have been rewritten and the focus was made on getting the game enjoyable, stable and more fun. There are no new items or monsters for this release, even if we have a running prototype for projectiles!
addedWarning, the old worlds won’t load properly or not at all with this new release. Creative mode was also removed as it is not the plan we have for Muspell.
addedNew mob and cave spawn algorithmMobs generation and caves have been completely redesigned to better suit the procedural and infinite aspect of the game. Initially we added lots of campfires around the world to spawn goblins, but this is not the case anymore. There is a density factor and mob capacity limit to make the game smoother.
changedWorld streamingThis had to be done since a very long time too. Now the chunks will unload and reload properly as you move. This includes lots of fixes for multiplayer too.

New mob and cave spawn algorithm

Reworked Gamepad UX

We initially planned to move a cursor using dpad when in the inventory screen, but it quickly appeared to be cumbersome, and it has been on the roadmap since probably day 1 or 2. Now it’s partially done and when you play Muspell with gamepad, the inventory screen now uses a pointer like if you had a mouse.

World streaming

This had to be done since a very long time too. Now the chunks will unload and reload properly as you move. This includes lots of fixes for multiplayer too.

One major change with this new system is that entities (monsters) are now saved and restored with chunks.

Combat

We tried to make the combats more dynamic by increasing the attack speed of player and removing the attack prepare phase of mobs. There is a slightly increased push force applied to mobs when they’re hit.
