addedHey, here is a fresh new update for Muspell Alpha, with some cool additions!
addedTooltipsBefore 0.10 there was no way to know what the items are used for, so one on my priorities was to add some description when you’re hovering an item with mouse.
changedTooltipsUnfortunately it won’t work with the gamepads (yet) as I’m still trying to figure out the best way to handle such tooltips without mouse. There is also a major rewrite of the Gamepad UX going on, as I’m not satisfied with current implementation.
changedPower Ups and ArmorThis is where the fun begin! Most of the equipment in the game now grant the player some cool bonus to the stats.
changedPower Ups and ArmorAs an example, the boots will give you 10% move speed increase.
changedPower Ups and ArmorMost of the equipment items will also increase your physical armor that is used to reduce the damage monsters deal to you. This is a very simple math at the moment, an armor stat of 3 will reduce damage received by 3.

Tooltips

Before 0.10 there was no way to know what the items are used for, so one on my priorities was to add some description when you’re hovering an item with mouse.

Unfortunately it won’t work with the gamepads (yet) as I’m still trying to figure out the best way to handle such tooltips without mouse. There is also a major rewrite of the Gamepad UX going on, as I’m not satisfied with current implementation.

Power Ups and Armor

This is where the fun begin! Most of the equipment in the game now grant the player some cool bonus to the stats.

As an example, the boots will give you 10% move speed increase.

Most of the equipment items will also increase your physical armor that is used to reduce the damage monsters deal to you. This is a very simple math at the moment, an armor stat of 3 will reduce damage received by 3.

You can combine multiple pieces of equipment to increase your overall armor and then reduce damage down to zero!

What’s next

The backlog for Muspell is huge, there are many things to come, but here are some points I’m considering working on for the next updates :

  • We should be able to remove props (torch, chest, …)

  • Add buffs and potions

  • Fireballs and other projectiles

  • Make the combats more interesting

  • Procedural quests (yeah!)

  • Portals
