Research
This past month we have been working on finishing up the research system for the strategic portion of the game.
Research is one of the pillars of the 4X genre, so we've debated the direction we would take. Ultimately we decided on a standard tech tree, with multiple branches. This allows planning on the direction you want to take with each game, verses the randomized techs some newer 4Xs have. To improve replayability the branches will be customizable per game as a world setting.
Each branch will roughly cover one area of the game with some blending between different types.
Prismwing
The Prismwing is a highly mobile flying monster. It excels at protecting allied units from spells as well as flanking and disrupting enemy spell casters.
Prismwings use their flight to pass over enemies, allies, or obstacles to best position themselves. They start with anti-heal, which prevents enemy spell-casters from healing their allies. They are also able to unlock silence, magic barrier and minor healing abilities.
