Monster Chef changes
Hello to all Chef Warriors and Innkeepers!
We took our time with this one… but Patch 3 is finally here!
This update brings a big chunk of new content and improvements to give you a clearer taste of what Monster Chef is growing into.
This is our biggest and most feature-packed demo update yet.
Alright, enough talking.
Here’s the full list:
Removed the Chef Door mechanic: now to go back to the Inn you can just press R3 after completing a Menu and wait a few seconds.
The Monsters are now stunned for a brief period when their Cooking Resistance is depleted.
The Monsters’ Cooking Resistance is now visible after the player hits them and not only when they are targeted.
The Inventory Plates are now divided into Menu Plates and Additional Plates, clarifying the Inventory behaviour.
Salt is now limited and can be harvested from Salt Rocks, Salt Sacks and Monster Chef Sanctuaries.
Added Monster Chef Sanctuaries, special locations that can be accessed in the Wilds after receiving a certain item. Inside you’ll find a powerful Chef Weapon that lasts only for the current run, or some precious Salt.
Added Towers, special locations that can be accessed in the Wilds after freeing their entrance with the Woodcutter Axe. Inside you’ll find lots of useful things.
Added Trap Holes, patches of grass that can crumble under your feet and cast you into a cavern full of hazards. Tread carefully.
Added Holes in the Great Hall, obstacles that impede your movement. They can be repaired with a chunk of Wood and a bit of good timing.
Added Dust in the Inn: props can now get dusty from time to time, and you’ll have to wipe them clean.
- Added the RecyclerSpuntino can now sell you a brand-new Tool that lets you convert Scrap into useful Materials.
Added new graphics and signalling to clarify the demo progression.
Added feedback for the Inn’s minigame time.
Added new story events, presenting bewildering foes.
Added a recap for the Inn’s minigame, to clarify your performance in everyday struggles.
Added several new music scores and sounds, including a new dynamic score for your hunts in the Wilds.
Added new graphics and formalization for the Recipe Book, now starring a collection of all the Plates you’ve cooked and still have to cook.
Added a new animation every time you receive a gift from an NPC.
Added new graphics to the doors in the Inn’s Great Halls to better hint at their future role.
Added the Training Grounds, a new Room in the Inn that lets you try out your Equipment before heading into the Wilds.
Added Tips: serving a Client quickly now grants you a bit of extra Florins.
Added the Equipment and Tools tab in the Inventory, to better keep track of your combat stats and Tool uses.
Added Damage Numbers to combat, to better track your damage output.
Added signalling for the Secrets in the Wilds.
Added signalling for the invincibility frames during the roll.
Added new graphics in the Wilds.
Added new dialogues.
Added UI animations.
Updated the Chef Knife base combo with a third animation.
Updated the Mandragora attack animation, now waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay tamer.
Updated the signalling for Menu Completed.
Updated the Inventory bindings.
Both Betulla and Furia now have something special for you after you welcome them into the Inn.
Improved the behaviour of the Mysterious Flower in the Garden.
Improved the behaviour of the Garden Weeds: they now grow from time to time and become HUGE if left unchecked.
Improved the overall demo progression.
Various other fixes and small changes.
As we approach the announcement of the game’s release date, your feedback is invaluable to us: keep telling us what you like and we’ll cook a game like no other!
NOTE: The demo version is now 0.0.23. All previous save files are unfortunately obsolete, so you’ll need to start the demo from the beginning. We know it can be a bit of a pain, but think of it as the perfect excuse to discover all the new improvements — we promise it’ll be worth it! As always, we’re eager to hear your feedback.
