The Forest biome introduces a new risk mechanic.

Trail System

  • At every Crossroads, both paths are assigned a Trail value. The chosen path’s value is added to the player’s current Trail.

  • If the number reaches or exceeds 5, the wolves have discovered the player through the tracks they left behind, and an 'Exposed' card is added to the player's deck.

Trail comes with a new card: Exposed.

Exposed Card

  • Cost: 1 Stamina

  • On draw: All enemies gain +2 Power. Draw 1 card.

  • Cannot be removed, duplicated, or obtained as a reward

Torch Interaction

  • Discovering a path with a Torch reduces Trail by 1

Boss Scaling

  • In the final combat, each remaining Trail grants +2 Power to the Boss/Elite

Design Intent

The Trail system creates constant tension between:

  • Short-term gains vs. long-term penalties

  • Deck pollution vs. stronger Boss encounters
