We are excited to bring you another major update to MK Ultra Psychic Defense! In v0.096, we have completely overhauled two key support/utility towers: the Death Fungus and the Emerald Tablet. Both towers have received stunning new custom shaders, redesigned mechanics, custom synthesised SFX/ambient drones, and live editor preview support.

Here is a breakdown of everything new in this update:

🍄 Death Fungus Tower Overhaul

The Death Fungus is no longer just a passive stat block. It has been reimagined as a bioluminescent mycelium node that actively spreads spores and feeds on defeated enemies:

  • Visual RedesignNew custom bioluminescent shaders drive the mushroom cap, stem, and its wavy area-of-effect indicator.
  • Spore Infection Mechanic: When enemies enter the range of the Death Fungus, tiny glowing mushrooms will physically grow on their heads, indicating they have been infected.

  • Awareness Generation: Whenever an infected enemy dies within its radius, the Death Fungus harvests their consciousness, granting you bonus Awareness to power your psychic defense.

  • Audio Atmosphere: Deep, organic breathing soundscapes and ambient drone, plus a wet spore application sound effect—all custom-synthesized.

  • Editor TweaksAdded full support for editor-live previewing of the enemy mushroom infection VFX, allowing for precise adjustments to scale, offset, and rotation.

📜 Emerald Tablet Tower Overhaul

The Emerald Tablet has been rewritten from the ground up to serve as a high-tier support pillar, complete with alchemical visual effects and anti-exploit protections:

  • Alchemical Glyphs Shader: The tablet now features golden alchemical SDF glyphs streaming vertically down a crystal-fresnel base pedestal.

  • Thrice Blessed (Tris Magistis) Passive: The Emerald Tablet increases its range potency by +2% range per nearby non-tablet tower within its radius. Stacks up to 10 nearby towers (+20% bonus potency).

  • Anti-Exploit System: In previous versions of the game, range-buffing could be exploited. The Emerald Tablet now explicitly checks and skips buffing itself or other Emerald Tablets, preventing infinite range stacking loops.

  • Alchemical Buff VFX: Towers buffed by the Emerald Tablet will now display floating alchemical symbols rising around their bases, showing at a glance which defenses are receiving the range boost.

  • Audio Atmosphere: A crystal-resonant looping ambient drone and an alchemical chime that triggers when a tower enters range and receives the buff.

  • Live Editor Preview: Fully integrated with Godot's tool mode to preview glyph scale, scroll speed, and buff VFX live in the editor scene.
