Mindaro changes
March has been a monumental month for us at Burning Boats Studios. While February was about refinement, March has been about putting the game into the hands of players. We’ve officially kicked off our Closed Playtest!
Here is what’s been happening in Mindaro this month:
Fixed bugs:
- Multiplayer StabilityWe fixed several critical elevator issues, including replication errors that caused players to be sent to the "origin" point or prevented doors from opening.
- Movement & CameraThe dash mechanic now correctly propels you forward (rather than skyward!), and we’ve fixed camera switching issues during spectating.
Item Logic: Items will no longer disappear if you try to pick them up with a full hotbar.
- Visuals & LightingWe’ve fixed player lighting and flashlight direction for clients, ensuring everyone can see (and be seen) in the dark.
- UI & ShadersFixed a bug where the TP-Debug would accidentally change everyone's shader, and ensured the revive shader updates correctly.
New Additions & Feel:
- AudioWe’ve added a suite of new sounds, including UI button feedback, tablet interactions, and player jump sounds to make every action feel tactile.
- The Upgrade DeskA new physical desk for the upgrade system is now in the game, giving the Pods a more grounded place in the world.
- UI PolishWe’ve updated the font for the Upgrade UI to improve readability and style.

If you want the chance to dive into the depths early and help us shape the future of the game, join our Discord server now. This is where we’ll be managing all invites and gathering your feedback.
We have some news outside of the code as well! Burning Boats Studios was recently selected to be featured in the Game Effect online newspaper. It’s an honor to have our work and our journey as a new studio recognized by the industry, and we’re so excited to share our vision with a wider audience.
The transition from "making a game" to "watching people play our game" is a huge leap for us. We can’t wait to see you on the Discord and hear your thoughts on the first playable build.
The descent is starting. Are you coming with us?
