Our biggest focus lately has been bringing the world to life for more than just a single player. Here is a look at what’s new:
Online Multiplayer & Replication
The "heavy lifting" is nearly done! We are finishing up the replication for online multiplayer to ensure a smooth experience for you and your friends.
Items: Item replication is 90% finished. We are currently tackling the final 10%—specifically syncing the unique abilities of items across the network.
The Pods: Our upgrade system has been overhauled to work for all players in a session. We are currently finalizing the replication of specific upgrades so everyone stays on the same power level.
Mechanics & Feel
- Magnet UpdateWe’ve refined the magnet mechanic! Based on internal testing, we’ve updated the controls and smoothed out the physics to make swinging through the environment feel more intuitive and fluid.
UI/UX: All interfaces are now fully functional. Our focus has shifted from "making it work" to "making it feel good," as we polish the User Experience (UX) for maximum clarity.
Sound & Atmosphere
The world is getting a lot noisier (in a good way!). We’ve been busy composing the official soundtrack and layering in sound effects to make every biome feel immersive and alive.
Smarter AI
The creatures of our world are growing up! We’ve begun implementing AI interactions that go beyond just chasing the player, allowing them to interact with the environment and each other.
We’re getting closer to that playable demo every day. If you want to be the first to jump in when the closed beta goes live, make sure to join our Discord!
We’ve been busy beyond just the code! It’s been an incredible few months for Burning Boats Studios on the community front.
Mexican Entertainment System (MES)
We were thrilled to be featured as part of the Mexican Entertainment System (MES). A massive thank you to the MES team for inviting us to participate in their Steam event—it was a true honor to showcase our work alongside such a talented group of Mexican developers.
The Deep, the Dark, and the Cozy
We are also currently participating in "The Deep, the Dark, and the Cozy" event! We want to give a huge shout-out to the organizers for including us in such a unique collection of games.
While you're here, we highly encourage you to browse the other titles in the event. If a game catches your eye, please give it a wishlist! For small indie studios like us, a wishlist is one of the most impactful ways you can help us gain visibility and keep the momentum going.
Want more frequent "behind-the-scenes" updates? We’re officially expanding to Instagram! Stay tuned and follow us there for exclusive previews, development clips, and a closer look at the world we’re building.
Thank you for sticking with us and for all your support as we navigate this journey. We’re working hard every day to make this vision a reality, and we can't wait to share more with you soon.
Stay safe out there—and remember to keep your lights bright. You never know what’s watching from the shadows!
