First of all, I want to thank everyone who supported the game during Early Access.

The support, feedback, and enthusiasm from this community have been incredible. We truly have one of the best communities, and as a solo developer, I honestly feel like I’m just another member of it.

Many players don’t fully know the long-term vision behind the game yet. So I wanted to make this post to explain where Megastore Simulator is heading and what you are really supporting.

A Foundation Built for Growth

Right now, the game has eight departments, but the system was never designed to stop there.

My goal is not to reach ten or twenty departments.

The goal is to build a game that can eventually support hundreds or even thousands of departments.

I want this to be a game that people can still play many years from now, constantly evolving and expanding.

Every system in the game has been designed with that long-term vision in mind.

Modding Support

One of the most important parts of this vision is modding support.

But not just traditional modding.

I want it to be simple enough that regular players can easily create their own departments.

The system I’m planning will work almost like an in-game editor mode, where players can:

  • Create their own departments • Combine shelves and products in different ways • Build completely new store sections • Use assets provided in the game to experiment with their own ideas

Some players may not enjoy installing external mods, so the idea is to also make it possible for players to create their own content directly inside the game.

Another important goal of modding support is long-term sustainability. By giving players powerful creation tools, the community will be able to add new content and ideas for years to come. This allows the game to keep growing and evolving through the community itself.

This is what the Modding Support item on the roadmap really means.

New Departments

Of course, I will also continue adding official departments myself.

I’m planning to release two new departments next week, and after that, I want to start introducing departments with deeper mechanics and gameplay systems, such as our bakery.

The long-term vision is simple:

I want the game to eventually support selling almost anything you could find in a real megastore.

Large Product System

One major missing feature right now is support for large products.

Megastores don’t only sell small grocery items. They also sell things like:

  • refrigerators • washing machines • furniture • large electronics • sofas and household items

To support these, I plan to add a large product system.

These items will arrive at your warehouse on pallets. You will place display versions in the store.

When customers buy them, they will bring a purchase ticket to the cashier. After scanning it, the order will appear in your warehouse, and you will handle the delivery from there.

This will allow the game to support very large items without breaking store layouts.

Customization & Store Building

Customization is another area I want to keep expanding.

The more ways you can customize your store, the more your megastore starts to feel unique and alive.

More decoration tools and building options are planned.

I’m also considering adding a separate decoration/editor mode, where you can design and build your store layout without customers interrupting you.

This would allow you to focus purely on designing your perfect megastore.

Performance & Large Stores

Optimization is extremely important to me.

A megastore should be able to support thousands of products and very large layouts.

That’s why systems like Product Draw Distance already exist, and more performance options will be added over time.

The entire game is built in a modular way, which means the store size and systems can continue expanding as the game grows.

Multiplayer & Other Platforms

Multiplayer and releases on other platforms are also planned.

However, these are very large updates that can slow down development significantly.

Because of that, my current plan is to focus first on:

  • gameplay systems • new departments • modding support

Then work on multiplayer and other platform releases later.

Continuous Updates

I read a lot of your feedback, sometimes directly on Discord, sometimes in batches from the community.

Many of the improvements already added to the game came directly from player feedback.

My goal is to continue releasing:

  • frequent small updates • regular larger updates

until the game truly becomes the ultimate retail simulator.

Some Planned Features

There are many exciting features planned, including things like:

  • Cold Storage • Butchery with its own mechanics • Deli department • Cleaning carts • New employees • Smarter AI • More customization systems • Small but immersive features, such as checkout-side shelves and children shopping in toy aisles with their families, to make the megastore feel even more alive

I’ve been collecting feedback for nearly a year now, and most ideas that fit the megastore theme are things I want to eventually include.

Final Words

This game belongs to the community as much as it does to me.

I wanted to share this vision so you can better understand what you are supporting in the long term.

Thank you again for being part of this journey.

We are just getting started.
