Hello everyone, Summer has arrived in Megastore Simulator! With Update, we are celebrating the summer with a brand-new major department to the game: the Summer Department. This is a large content update focused on bringing a fresh seasonal atmosphere to your store, with new products, new shelves, new decorations, new freezer furniture, and a new inflatable product system. From towels to sunscreen, from beach balls to umbrellas and inflatable mattresses, your Megastore is now ready for the summer season.

Megastore Simulator changes
New Summer Department
The new Summer Department is designed to feel colorful, fresh, and visually different from the existing departments. It adds a new product category with strong demand, new ways to decorate your store, and new furniture options to improve both gameplay and immersion.
Added the new Summer Department.
Added 53 new products.
Added 13 new product licenses.
Added 4 new shelf types.
Added 10% bulk discount for this department.
Customer demand for this department has increased by 50% during this summer period.
This department is not a temporary event. The Summer Department, its products, shelves, and furniture will stay in the game permanently. You do not need to worry about losing access to this content later. In the future, if seasons and an in-game calendar are introduced, departments like this may have their demand increase or decrease depending on the in-game season. The content itself will remain available, only the in-game demand may change. And who knows, maybe when winter arrives, we may add a winter season department with winter products too. :)
53 New Summer Products
This update adds a wide variety of summer-themed products to make the new department feel rich and visually fun. You will be able to stock products such as towels, sunscreen, beach balls, beach umbrellas, inflatable mattresses, pool toys, and many more summer items. The goal was to make this department feel like a real summer section inside a large Megastore, not just a few extra products placed on existing shelves.
To make the new department easier to manage, all Summer Department products have box and shelf capacities that are either equal or exact multiples of each other. This should make ordering, stocking, and shelf planning much smoother, especially when managing the section at a larger scale.
New Inflatable Product Type
A new Inflatable product type has been added. Inflatable products are stored in boxes while deflated, but when they are placed on shelves, they inflate and become much larger visually. When customers take them from shelves, or when they are returned to boxes, they shrink back down again. This system was created especially for the new summer products. These products would not make much sense as giant boxes, and inflated products simply look much cooler on shelves.
New Summer Shelves
The Summer Department comes with 4 new shelf types. These shelves are designed to make the department feel more unique, more decorative, and more suitable for summer products.
Beach Basket Shelf
The Beach Basket Shelf is used for beach umbrellas and inflatable products. This shelf is designed to make large summer products stand out more. Inflatable products placed here will inflate on the shelf and shrink back down when removed.
Tall Beach Shelf
The Tall Beach Shelf has a bamboo-inspired design with rounded details and a warmer summer feeling. It works especially well with towels, sunscreen, and similar summer products. I wanted this shelf to feel more authentic and beach-themed, instead of looking like a completely standard retail shelf.
Small Beach Shelf
The Small Beach Shelf is the shorter version of the bamboo-style shelf. It is ideal for creating island-style layouts and combining multiple shelves together. You can use it together with the tall version to build more natural and visually interesting Summer Department layouts.
Beach Shelf
The regular Beach Shelf has a more retail look, while still keeping the summer vibe with its small wooden details.
This is a good option if you want the department to feel more like a clean retail section rather than a heavily themed beach corner.
All three Beach Shelf variants can hold the same product types. In storage requirements, you will see them grouped under Beach Shelf, but the furniture options are separated as Tall Beach Shelf, Small Beach Shelf, and Beach Shelf.
Display Pool
You can place it inside or outside your store to showcase inflatable products and add a strong summer visual element to your Summer Department.
For now, this pool is purely decorative, but it helps improve the summer vibe of the section and makes inflatable products feel more natural, playful, and eye-catching.
In the near future, I want the display furniture, such as mannequins, dressing rooms, and display pools, to have an actual effect on the sales of their related departments.
More decorative and display-focused furniture like this will continue to be added over time, helping each department feel more unique, alive, and visually connected to its products.
New Summer Wall and Flooring
A new wall and a new flooring option have been added for the Summer Department. For the wall, the goal was to create a warm beach-side feeling. I chose a color that reflects sand, sunlight, and summer warmth, supported with a palm tree pattern to strengthen the department identity. For the flooring, I wanted something that feels closer to clear sea water. The new flooring uses an aqua / turquoise tone with a slightly shiny pattern, helping the department feel brighter, fresher, and more refreshing.
2 New Freezer Types Steam post image
Update 0.5.4 also adds 2 new freezer types. The goal with these freezers is not only to increase freezer capacity, but also to improve the overall Megastore feeling and immersion. The previous freezer units worked well functionally, but visually they could feel a bit too small, closer to something you would see in a small market. These new freezer types are larger, more realistic, and much better suited for a large Megastore environment.

You can create realistic freezer island layouts.
One of the freezer types can be used as a corner piece.
They have much higher capacity than previous freezer units.
With only 3 of these new freezers, you can cover your entire grocery freezer section.
These new freezers should make grocery freezer areas look much more impressive and realistic. You can now build proper freezer islands that better match the scale and atmosphere of a large Megastore. I want to keep adding more furniture and visual improvements like this over time. Updates that improve immersion, department identity, and the overall Megastore atmosphere will continue to be part of development.
More Improvements Will Follow
After this update, smaller patches will continue to arrive with quality-of-life improvements, balance changes, and bug fixes. While you enjoy the summer in your Megastore, I will keep polishing the update and improving the experience with follow-up patches.
