Megastore Simulator changes
v0.5.6 is here with a full Music Department rework, new dedicated shelves, new flooring, product visual updates, and several gameplay fixes.
You asked for it, so I made it.
Many of you have been asking for more dedicated furniture for the Music Department for a while, especially CD/Vinyl racks and larger guitar displays. With this update, I wanted to give the Music Department the attention it needed and make it feel more complete, more organized, and more fitting for Megastore’s visual style.
Music Department Product Rework
Many of the Music Department products have been reworked visually.
Many product names have also been updated to better match their new looks. Box quantities were reviewed as well. In most cases, quantities either stayed the same or were increased, and I tried to match box quantities and shelf capacities as much as possible.
This should make the Music Department feel cleaner, easier to organize, and better balanced for larger store layouts.
Also, with the increased box capacities, your ordering workload should be reduced for the music department.
As more product variety is added to the game in the future, the Music Department will also continue receiving more products over time as the warehouse grows.
New CD / Record Rack
A new dedicated CD / Record Rack has been added.
This rack is made specifically for CDs and records, giving these products a cleaner and more natural display option instead of forcing them into generic shelves.
New Guitar Wall Shelf
A new Guitar Wall Shelf has been added.
This shelf can hold up to 10 guitars, compared to the much lower capacity of the older shelf options. Since it uses a vertical wall-mounted design, it can also save floor space while working as a decorative wall piece.
The goal was to make it feel both useful and visually fitting for the Music Department, while still matching the overall Megastore style.
New Circular Music Shelf
A new Circular Music Shelf has been added.
This shelf can hold the same types of products that can be placed on the plain music shelf. It has three display sections and is especially useful for creating a more stylish presentation for products like drums.
It also includes wood / parquet-style details to better support the atmosphere of the Music Department.
New Stylish Music Shelves
New Stylish Music Shelves have been added.
These shelves can also hold the same product types as the plain music shelf. A mirrored version has also been added, allowing more flexible layouts.
You can use them as single shelves, side-by-side displays, back-to-back islands, two-piece groups, or larger four-piece layouts, depending on your store design.
New Music Flooring
Two new Music Department floorings have been added.
One is a wooden floor designed to match the decorative details of the new music furniture.
The other is a polished concrete-style floor with a more energetic look, made to bring more character and movement to the Music Department while still fitting naturally into the store.
Fixes and Improvements
Fixed a movement issue that could make the character feel like they were walking over small bumps, causing slight unwanted up-and-down motion while walking on flat store floors.
Recycled, spoiled, or disposed of products removed by either restockers or the player are now properly reduced from the inventory, fixing a temporary incorrect stock display issue.
Restockers will now take the lowest-stock box from the box shelves first, helping box shelf usage behave more consistently.
Improved the transition when stepping onto escalators, making it feel smoother compared to the previous version.
Fixed an escalator issue where it could fail to carry the player while standing on it.
Removed the unnecessary light reflection/glare on the lobster tank.
Increased the placement distance for pallet racks and box shelves, making them easier and more comfortable to place.
Notes
Existing Music Department layouts should continue working for now. The old shelf compatibility is intentionally kept in this update, so existing stores are not disrupted immediately.
A future shelf rule / bulk shelf change update will handle the cleanup of older, incorrect placements more safely.
What’s Next?
Right after this update, I will be working on another optimization and bug fix update to improve the overall experience further.
After that, the Signages Update is planned to arrive shortly after, most likely around the beginning of next week. This update will focus on making different departments and store systems work together in more meaningful ways by giving you a different set of customizable signage options.
Once that is done, I will start working on the Butchery & Deli Update. My current goal is to release the Butchery Update before the end of June.
Thank you so much for your continued support. As a solo indie developer, every piece of feedback, every bug report, and every suggestion helps shape the future of Megastore Simulator.
