This week, we dig into one of the quieter—but just as vital—sides of life on the Lost Isle. Whether you're building a sprawling settlement or just trying to keep yourself fed between expeditions, farming is your foundation.

Planting Your Roots

Growing crops starts with finding a place to put them. Seeds can be planted directly into the terrain, though they'll grow at a fraction of the speed compared to dedicated structures. Every crop moves through three stages—Seedling, Young, and Harvestable—before it's ready to pick.

The Lost Isle's farming structures give you options depending on how you like to build:

  • Plant BoxA solid raised bed for indoor or outdoor plots.
  • Garden Pot: Compact and easy to place almost anywhere.

  • Wall Planter: Grow vertically—great for tight spaces or decorative setups.

  • Composter: Feed it food scraps and it breaks them down into dirt and compost, which you'll need to expand your operation.

Keeping Things Alive

Crops planted in structured planters won't grow unless they're watered. Watering applies a one-hour Watered state—let it lapse and your plants sit idle. Staying on top of it is part of the rhythm of settlement life.

To water your crops, you'll need a container first—a Bucket, Watering Can, or Water Skin will all do the job. Take it to a water source, fill it up, and bring it back to your planters.

Among the water sources you can draw from are wells, rain-water collectors, and natural springs.

Seeds & Crops

Before anything grows, you need seeds. There are a few ways to build up your supply:

  • Loot: Seeds can be found in chests and dropped from enemies across the Isle.

  • The Vagrant: He does more than sell planting supplies—bring him fruits and vegetables and he'll convert them directly into seeds. A simple loop that rewards anyone keeping a well-stocked garden.

Currently available crops and their harvest yields:

  • Potato: 2 per harvest

  • Onion: 2 per harvest

  • Radish: 3 per harvest

  • Tomato: 3 per harvest

  • Sunflower: 1 per harvest

  • Wind Rose: 1 per harvest

  • Moon Lily: 1 per harvest

Wild Harvest

Not everything worth growing needs a seed packet. Out in the jungle and across the Isle, you'll come across plants that can be uprooted and brought back to your settlement to grow.
