Knock on the Coffin Lid changes
Knock, knock, travelers!
Are you ready for the most unusual tour of our game world? Welcome to the “Horror of the Depths” route! For a mug of elven ale, we’ll guide you into the very heart of Midian’s dungeons, and of course, we’ll send you home with a few small souvenirs to remember the adventure.
And the bravest among you can even join our beta test.
Ancient artifacts, abandoned palaces, magical moons, and of course, a meeting with our brand-new dwarf will await you!
But let’s not keep you waiting. Light your torches, keep your weapons ready, and please, don’t touch the levers (you remember what happened last time, right?). Now, onward into the caves of Midian!
First Attraction—The Palace in the Rock!
On your left, you’ll see a structure, estimated by the best mages to have been built approximately 400,000 winters ago. The head is missing because, well, 400,000 winters is a lot, even for enchanted granite. Whose statue is it? Oh, you’ll see the original soon enough—don’t worry! It’s believed to honor the ancient inhabitants of the dungeons, whom you’ll have the chance to meet later. As is often the case, the answers lie deep below, but most tours stop at the surface.
But we’re just getting started—let’s go deeper!
Meet the Runaway Dwarf!
Today’s tour will be accompanied by our colleague, a native of the Thundering Mountain! Life has truly put him through the wringer: years in elven captivity, loss of family, battles with ghouls— not a life, but a complete nightmare. But today, he’ll faithfully protect us to ensure this tour goes without a hitch. What happened on the last tour? Oh… uh, nothing important…
Descending further, you hear the dwarf muttering under his breath: “The elves at least fed me… and here it’s just rocks and dust! I’d rather go back to ghouls than babysit these tourists…
DO NOT TOUCH THE LEVER!
Hold on a moment… Yes, of course, we know the way. We just need to check a few things. Hat… check. Torch… check. Whip… never leave home without it… purification potion… uh-oh… No, there’s no need to worry- really, no need at all. If anything happens, the alchemist from the Rotten Bog can lift the curse of the tombs from you…
Speaking of tombs! Before you is a burial site for fallen warriors, set within an abandoned archway. It was previously used for summoning demons —or so it’s believed. What’s that? You want to know what this lever does?
Don’t touch the lever!
Sorry for raising my voice! Actually, we’re 700 fathoms below the surface, and it’s better to whisper down here. The subterranean creatures react to any sound, and trust me, you don’t want to disturb them…
But let’s move on…
Some Souvenirs?
Ladies and gentlemen, we’re coming close to the borders of the modest section of the dungeons that the guards managed to secure from demons. We’ve barely scratched the surface, but descending further would be too dangerous. So that’s all for now—choose a souvenir to remember the journey!
Amulet of Balance: will help you restore inner balance and fill your life with harmony and order. And a wolf’s strength will make you as strong and independent as a wolf pack—howl away!
Mite Egg: a perfect gift for your loved one (especially with Valentine’s Day coming up)! What’s better than raising a tiny miteling into a giant, man-eating monster together? Or, if you’re looking to break up, this egg is also a great choice…
Exorcism Potion: perfect if you feel like something alien has taken root in your soul (not a certified medicine—consult a healer before use).
What Do the Three Moons Foretell?
Travelers, night is falling, and it’s time to say goodbye. But this spring, you can continue exploring the dungeons on your own—if you dare.
Before you go, we’d like to show you a stunning astronomical event visible at the cave’s exit. Tonight, Midian’s satellites align in a Parade of Moons—a phenomenon that won’t occur again for another 9,000 years.
Each moon has its own story. The lower moon, the Moon of Mist, governs illusions and magic. The Blood Moon in the center awakens ancient power in the hearts of monsters. And the upper moon, the Moon of Fate, has intriguing effects on werewolves…
How About Some Chit-Chat?
Hello, friends! Andrew aka Innrey’s here.
This week has felt like the final boss of Dark Souls… The bags under my eyes have got their own inventory, and it’s definitely overloaded. On morning calls, our programmers look like Sigismund’s mad mage (should I be worried about them?). But great news: we’re ready to invite testers to the beta, where you can try out the battle log, event log, and tons of other new features!
How to Join the Open Beta Test
🔸 Launch Steam and right-click on Knock on the Coffin Lid. 🔸 Select Properties and go to the betas tab. 🔸 Next to “Beta Testing,” choose the branch “[LINK DA BRANCH].” 🔸 Wait for Steam to update.
Important
The beta version is available for Windows only. Before installing the beta, make sure to finish your current runs and back up the "Knock" save folder located at C:\Users[YourUsername]\AppData\LocalLow\RedBoon\Knock
If you encounter any issues or bugs or want to provide feedback:
Use the “Bug report” feature in the game menu after pressing Esc.
Describe the issue in the “Open Beta Test” thread in the Steam Community Discussions.
Contact us in our Discord server 4. (If the above doesn’t work) Email us at 4knockbugs@gmail.com with the contents of your “Knock” folder attached.
What’s all the fuss about? We’re preparing a mega-patch packed with updates and bugs!
First of all, there’ll be new endings! We’ve added so much to these that even I’m scared of what awaits you if you choose… let’s say, the less “noble” path. One of the game’s key ideas is that choices shape our fates—sometimes more profoundly than expected. Trust a shady ally or walk the lone path? Often, the cost of your choice can be unpredictable, and karma will follow you everywhere.
Secondly, karma will now work as precisely as the mechanisms of the Golem from the Frontier. So smash idols and attack the orc gardener at your own risk—the game will remember everything… EVERYTHING (yes, doesn’t that sound ominous!).
We’ve also had huge progress with PS5 porting! After a breadcrumb trail of documents, approvals, and bureaucracy, we’re finally approved. Hooray! Console players, add us to your wishlists :)
Frankly speaking, for a small studio with no publishers or powerful connections, a console release is a major milestone. When I see our page in the PlayStation Store, I feel warmth inside. Soon, we’ll be scrolling through the PS Store and see our familiar trio.
All week, we’ve been working hard to finish the sprint on time. Our artists and game designers are doing tremendous work—think about that when you see their names in the credits of the new endings!
For now, we’re not saying goodbye: your participation in the beta test is incredibly valuable because it’s the community that shapes the direction of the game’s development. We listen to every piece of feedback you share. Together, we’ll figure out why Bjorn transforms into a lycan so quickly and where all the necessary gear from the shops disappeared to.
Thank you so much for your support, friends! See you in the next dev diary!
