Just letting you know I shipped a new update on Sunday. It adds a couple new gameplay features I am pretty psyched about.

What's New

Grappling Gun Locomotion

Shooting at Grapple Points will now deploy your Grapple, which can be used to swing or reel yourself towards the point.

This feature took quite a bit of experimenting. The system I found that I liked best works like this:

  • Climbable objects now also serve as Grapple Points

  • If you point at a Grapple Point and pull the trigger, instead of firing your cannon it will fire your Grapple (unless there is something in the way like an enemy, obstacle etc).

  • Once the Grapple has attached, your Booster button for that hand will reel in the Grapple instead of Boosting

  • Releasing the trigger releases the Grapple

  • Attaching to a Grapple Point re-ups your boosters same as landing

  • While Grappled you can still use your other Booster to control your momentum

I've retroactively added Grapple Points to some existing Rooms. Not every Room will have them, but I'm excited to see how I can use them going forward.

Reordering Weapon Cards

You can now open your Operating System and rearrange the order of the Weapon Cards in your Library from any non-combat room.

This one is pretty self-explanatory, but was a much requested feature so I'm excited to ship-it :)

It's a big player buff, but I think it is worth it. It's a lot of fun being able to strategize around the sequencing of your Library.

Other Changes

  • Dashing into a Grind Rail no longer sends you flying at absurd speeds.

  • Fixed blur/screen tearing/double vision issue that was happening on some headsets after the last update added post-processing VFX.

  • Made post-processing VFX enableable/disableable via the game menu

  • Updated tutorial to include grappling and discuss card reordering

  • Fixed issue where some enemies were spawning outside the Room on the Elite Waterworks Room.

  • Made bullets strike Belly Bots more reliably (they were passing through sometimes due to bad collider setup)

What's Next

Next I'll be focusing on

  • The new Floor Type: Corridor of Shadows!

  • New enemies and maybe a boss for Corridor of Shadows

  • New narrative elements like NPCs, inspectable objects that reveal lore, etc.
