Gunlocked 2 changes
Announcing Hellfish!
A classic side-scrolling shoot 'em up set deep in a corrupted ocean. Battle demonic sea creatures as The Pope using his holy submarine, and customize your righteous weapons in unique ways every time you play.
Another Shoot 'Em Up?
Over the past few months I've returned to freelancing for other developers (more about that soon), and while I've been doing that, I decided to learn a new engine. To get to grips with the entire pipeline of development to release, I decided to make a game. It needed to be small, but replayable. I already had some experience making shmups, so I thought "Why not one more?"
Lessons Learned
Hellfish is a very different game from the Gunlocked series and that's intentional. I wanted to create a more classicly styled shmup free from any expectations of how a Gunlocked game should play. But I still wanted to incorporate a lot of the lessons I learned from feedback on Gunlocked 2.
Hellfish is a highly streamlined gameplay experience with all of the fat cut out. It's much closer to true shmup with some light bullet hell (bullet heck?) elements, and far removed from the "Bullet Heaven" stylings of Gunlocked.
Everything from how many upgrades and how upgrades work, to how boss fights play out has been rethought based on player feedback. This is a small, highly focused, easy to pick up and play game.
Still, you'll be able to create powerful builds from an easy to understand set of upgrades, and unlock new weapons and skills to try out on subsequent runs.
So go wishlist it today!
