Hi there!

Long Story Short

Guards vs Goats version 1.00 officially releases on January 22, 2026.

Long Story Long

As you can see, this is a new version of the roadmap. Keeping the old one just for reference.

As stated earlier, I thought again about the early access idea and decided that I should drop it.

I wanted early access because:

  • This is my first game.

  • I wanted feedback before the official release.

  • It seemed like a lot of developers are doing it so it seemed like a good idea.

I've dropped the early access idea because:

  • This is not an RPG or an online game. Although there is the Custom Chapters mode, still, the game is revolving around a story. This game is not long enough to sell only a partial experience.

  • Feedback I will get for the official release in any case. I don't plan on dropping the game on the players and eject. I will be around to fix bugs and implement doable suggestions.

  • The early access plan was a "short early access" or as I wanted to call it: "late access", because my plan was to keep the game in early access only for a few months. Then I thought about it and I realized, if I'm only a few months away from finishing the game, why go early access in the first place.

So:

The game released on January 22, 2026 will be:

  • Full.

  • Optimized.

  • Tested.

Yet, as stated above, I'm not dropping version 1.00 and leaving this game.

I'll listen to my players. I'll take bug reports and suggestions that fit the game's scope and attend to them as best as I can.

Even big, out of scope suggestions are welcome. I don't think I'll be able to fit them in this game, but they will be in my points of consideration on the next games I'll make.

The New Roadmap

  • Late December, 2025 - version 0.90 with chapter IX on beta. Probably it will include a demo version 0.90 but with very minor changes from 0.80.

  • Early January, 2026 - Version 0.95 with chapter X for beta testing.

  • 22 January, 2026 - Official release (version 1.00).

  • After that - Tweaks and fixes per user comments.

Cheers!
