What changed

0 fixes0 additions4 changes0 removals
  • UI and audio
changedThe version has all the card rules translated into Simplified Chinese, which allowed us to start looking at what we can improve there. And of course, we saw that some of terms should change, as well as the way we use dots and brackets in this language.
changedAnyways, we also had a brain-frying discussion about the UI for complex actions such as "open 2 cards from the deck, assign one as a resource to your project; take the other one in your hand" and "steal 3 resources from the opponent's projects, assign them to your projects (you can choose multiple projects)". And I think we nailed it.
changedwe use the same sound effects as in Gremlins, Inc.
changedWe will address this by showing you a special announcement that, instead of YOUR TURN, would say EXTRA TURN. And instead of OPPONENT'S TURN which shows up and then immediately disappears, it would say SKIP TURN in opponent's colors, with a malicious sound effect to boot.

Yesterday we got to version 148, and I've been so busy that I didn't have much time to play and post about it:

I don't know if you guys are into such details; but basically, compare this:

English – blah blah). Blah blah

Japanese – こころこ)。こころこ

We are not the fans of too much spacing, so we edit it to be like this: こころこ)。こころこ

And we discovered that in Simplified Chinese, we want to do the same.

Anyways, we also had a brain-frying discussion about the UI for complex actions such as "open 2 cards from the deck, assign one as a resource to your project; take the other one in your hand" and "steal 3 resources from the opponent's projects, assign them to your projects (you can choose multiple projects)". And I think we nailed it.

One more thing that we solved yesterday was the whole Extra Turn/Skip Turn circus.

  • we use the icons from Gremlins, Inc. for. both, so that at least initially you guys will feel at home

  • we use the same sound effects as in Gremlins, Inc.

BUT

We had an issue where often, in the heat of the session, you would lose track of whether now is the "extra" turn, or it's coming later.

We will address this by showing you a special announcement that, instead of YOUR TURN, would say EXTRA TURN. And instead of OPPONENT'S TURN which shows up and then immediately disappears, it would say SKIP TURN in opponent's colors, with a malicious sound effect to boot.

As I finish typing this, we already have version 149.1, which I'm going to check ASAP.
