addedWhat changedThis patch is all about performance. No new wishes this time, just making sure the game runs smoother and loads faster for everyone.
changedPerformance & LoadingFaster loading screens - Game loading and wish data fetching now happen in parallel instead of one after the other. You should notice shorter loading times, especially on slower connections.
addedPerformance & LoadingTexture streaming enabled - We turned on mipmap streaming across all four quality levels (Low, Medium, High, Ultra). Textures now load progressively instead of all at once, which means less stuttering and lower memory pressure.
addedPerformance & LoadingTexture compression - Added Crunch compression and mipmap streaming to dozens of textures. The game loads assets more efficiently now.
changedPerformance & LoadingBigger async upload buffers - Doubled the upload buffer from 16MB to 32MB and increased the time slice. Textures and assets stream in faster during gameplay.

Update 1.0.5 Trailer

Check out the trailer for Update 1.0.5, featuring the voice-activated save system and the friendly Nazgul on the Puy-de-Dome.

What changed

This patch is all about performance. No new wishes this time, just making sure the game runs smoother and loads faster for everyone.

Performance & Loading

  • Faster loading screens - Game loading and wish data fetching now happen in parallel instead of one after the other. You should notice shorter loading times, especially on slower connections.

  • Texture streaming enabled - We turned on mipmap streaming across all four quality levels (Low, Medium, High, Ultra). Textures now load progressively instead of all at once, which means less stuttering and lower memory pressure.

  • Texture compression - Added Crunch compression and mipmap streaming to dozens of textures. The game loads assets more efficiently now.

  • Bigger async upload buffers - Doubled the upload buffer from 16MB to 32MB and increased the time slice. Textures and assets stream in faster during gameplay.

  • ~711MB of dead textures removed - We cleaned out unused DirectX normal map variants that were never used by our rendering pipeline (HDRP uses OpenGL normals). That's over 700MB of useless data gone from the build.

  • Texture size standardized - Fixed a few outlier textures that were set to 4096 or 8192 resolution when they should have been 2048. Less VRAM usage, same visual quality.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a memory leak in the scene loading system that could cause slowdowns over time

  • Fixed the loading bar percentage not displaying correctly

What happens next

More wishes are in the queue. We wanted to make sure the foundation was solid before adding more on top. Next update will bring new wishes as usual.

If you haven't made your wish yet, the monolith is waiting.
