Major Update 3.0.0: Room Uploads, YouTube Watch Party, and Tons of New Features!

🎊 The Steam version of gogh has reached its 1st anniversary! 🎊

When it first launched on April 30, 2025, gogh was still in a very early state. It didn’t even have multiplayer yet, recoloring was limited, and there were still a lot of bugs.

Since then, thanks to everyone who kept using it patiently and sent us so many bug reports and requests, we’ve been able to grow it a lot through more than 50 updates.

To celebrate this special 1st anniversary together with all of you, we’ve refreshed the main key art and trailer, and released a major update full of new features!

This update includes a lot of changes and also some important notes, so it’s a bit long, but we’d really appreciate it if you could give it a read!

1. You can now upload your rooms‼️

We’ve added a new Room Upload feature, available from the “Workshop” button.

Rooms uploaded by users can now be saved by other users to their own room slots, then used in their personal spaces, edited, and opened as Multiplayer Rooms.

⚠️ Notes

• This feature uses Steam Workshop, so the uploader’s Steam account name will be shown on uploaded works.

• You can also perform actions such as Subscribe on the Steam Workshop website, but we recommend using the in-app controls.

• Uploads are made on a room-slot basis. If you edit the room in that same slot after uploading and want those changes reflected in the uploaded version, you’ll need to update it manually. Uploaded room slots will also display a Published tag.

• Downloaded user-created rooms cannot be re-uploaded, even if modified.

• Downloaded user-created rooms can be used as Multiplayer Rooms, but they will be shown as downloaded works. This is intended to help prevent plagiarism of other users’ creations.

2. Watch YouTube together with “Watch Party” 📺️

As a brand-new way to enjoy gogh, you can now gather in a room and watch videos together!

Because the video can be projected onto screens inside the room, it feels more like everyone is really hanging out together.

You can also use it in solo play.

To use it, place one of the dedicated items: “Watch Party Screen (XL, L, M, S)”.

⚠️ Notes

• Use of this feature is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

• WatchParty is an original gogh feature that plays YouTube videos on each participant’s device and aligns the playback position based on elapsed time from the start of playback. It is not a feature provided or guaranteed by YouTube.

• WatchParty can only be used by the Multiplayer Room host. Solo viewing without syncing with other users is available to everyone.

• If the host seeks to a different playback position during WatchParty, that seek will not be synchronized.

• Due to technical limitations, playback controls such as pause and volume adjustment cannot be controlled from the gogh UI. Please use the YouTube player itself.

• Due to technical limitations, some videos may not be playable.

• URLs other than YouTube URLs cannot be entered.

• Even when projecting to multiple screens, only one video can be played at a time.

3. Outfit saves are here 🥼👗👚

We’ve added a new Outfit Save feature that lets you save and switch between your favorite outfits.

Each avatar now has 3 outfit slots, which means with 9 avatar slots, you can switch between up to 27 combinations. You can find it in the “★” group under the outfit tab.

Please note that hairstyle and face parts are not included in outfit slots.

4. You can now flip hairstyles left/right 👩

A highly requested feature is finally here: hairstyle mirroring.

No more “This hairstyle would be perfect if it were flipped...” during character creation!

5. Face tracking has arrived‼️

As a surprise for the 1st anniversary update, we’ve added face tracking support for gogh avatars. You can use it from the face tracking button that appears when you click your avatar.

We hope you’ll try it out for livestreaming and more!

⚠️ Notes

• This is a solo-play feature, so while it can be used in Multiplayer Rooms, it will not sync to other players.

6. New facial expression controls ☺️☹️😭

We’ve also added a feature that lets you change expressions with a single button press. Keyboard input (keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) is supported too.

You can also use it when interacting with other players in Multiplayer Rooms.

7. We added “Spinner Buddy” 🌀

To make room customization even more flexible, we’ve added “Spinner Buddy”, an item that rotates whatever is placed on top of it. You can even place a Spinner Buddy on top of another Spinner Buddy.

8. New items and new poses‼️

We’ve added new free avatar items inspired by “Alice in Wonderland”!

We’ve also added new poses for drinking tea and eating onigiri, along with tea and onigiri room items!

9. A new Kuroda42 type appears: “Sepaktakuro” 👾

A new type of Kuroda42 has been discovered. We’ve heard it evolves by using the countdown timer a lot. If you find one, please take good care of it.

10. You can now invite Steam Friends to Multiplayer Rooms!

After entering a Multiplayer Room, you can now directly invite your Steam Friends. We hope you’ll make good use of it!

11. Room Slots +3!

You now have 18 slots in total! Use them to create rooms for uploading!

We’ve also fixed the following issues:

• Fixed an issue where color settings were not applied to ceiling lights

• Fixed an issue where changing a sub-avatar’s pose could cause it to move and overlap with the main avatar’s position

• Fixed an issue where overlapping widgets could be dragged together as a group

• Fixed an issue where duplicating the wall version of “Floor Maker Buddy” could offset the positions of child items
