Hey players! This patch brings about a new cooking system and a set of tutorials regarding the gameplay. There are also several changes to the UI and two new cheat commands.

addedBefore we jump into the update, I want to introduce to you a new cheat feature. "Godmode" will allow players, if manually enabled, to roam any aspect of the world. This has been added to give players the option to view new additions as they are under development. In other words, these areas are not available though non-cheated gameplay, so if you want to wait for the full release of the gameplay you simply have to do nothing but wait.

addedTo access this new feature in old saves, you will have to remove the already built campfire and build a new one. This has been added as a feature to make sure that anyone who has any items in the old campfire system will not lose the progress.
changedThe biggest change is the removal of the 2D cooking UI.
addedTo fuel the campfire, you need to hold a flamable item. Items that effect the burning time of the campfire, will have new added information to the item details. These items are bark, stick, leaf, vines and cloth.

To access this new feature in old saves, you will have to remove the already built campfire and build a new one. This has been added as a feature to make sure that anyone who has any items in the old campfire system will not lose the progress.

The biggest change is the removal of the 2D cooking UI.

To fuel the campfire, you need to hold a flamable item. Items that effect the burning time of the campfire, will have new added information to the item details. These items are bark, stick, leaf, vines and cloth.

To cook, simply hold the raw food or beverage in your hand and interact with the campfire to place it down. To collect it again, look at the item you wish to collect and once highlighted, interact with it to pick it up again.

Along with a new system, there are two new items that can help improve cooking.

A kettle that lets you cook more liquid at once. A grill that will keep the food from instantly burning.

Of course, if food is left too long over the fire, it will eventually burn.

For more information and visual examples, make sure that "Show tips" is enabled in the settings and walk up to the newly built campfire for a tutorial.

Tutorials and tips can be turned off and on at any time in the settings. And you don't have to start a new game for the tutorials to appear. Simply walk up to a building such as campfires, sawhorses and racks and the tutorial for it will appear. In addition to this. interaction UI to the respective buildings has been removed.

The feature is still in testing phases, so any feedback is always appreciated! If there is anything you are missing, wish was not removed or adjusted, don't hesitate to reach out. Everything is always evaluated!

Full Overview: New Gameplay

  • Drinking directly from lakes and rivers now have a 50/50 chance of causing damage.

  • Added more medium rocks to the landscape.

Visuals

  • Added Landscape Virtual Texture.

  • Sticks, leaves, cloth and bark can now be held.

  • Added which day it is to the notebook.

Tutorials

  • Added pop-up tutorials and additional UI tips for building. (Can be toggled on and off in the settings)

  • Added an inventory tutorial.

Notifications

  • A warning now appears when trying to use bandages or medkits to heal while at full health.

  • Added a warning to show players when UI has been set to hidden and how to make it visible again.

  • Added a notification of items and total backpack quantity that have been picked up.

Cooking

  • Added a new, more interactable method for cooking.

  • Food left on a campfire for too long will now end up burnt.

  • Watercans can now be placed on a campfire to make pure water.

  • Added a new item called “Grill”.

  • Added a new item called “Kettle”.

  • Added an animation for lighting up a campfire.

Cheats

  • Added a cheat command “set.location” that can be accessed by typing “tp.location”. Set location is not currently saved.

  • Added a “godmode” cheat command.

Changes

  • Items no longer add automatically to the hotbar.

  • Harvesting water from lakes and rivers now give murky water.

  • Vines and cloth can now be used as fuel for campfires.

  • Adjusted the shaders of the non-interactable rocks.

  • Adjusted the highlight shade on interactable items.

  • Adjusted the scroll function in the building menu.

  • Adjusted the categories and order of blueprints in the building menu.

  • Adjusted the collision on different furniture to allow fur to be placed underneath.

  • Changed the warning UI design.

  • Changed drinking time from river 2 > 1 seconds.

  • Changed the destruction time 5 > 2 seconds.

  • Changed the to-do objective “Find a way home” to “Find Fuel”.

  • Changed the intensity of the lantern light.

  • Changed the intensity of the campfire light.

  • Pressing M for map while holding the book, now puts the book away and shows the map.

  • Pressing T for book while holding the map, now puts the map away and shows the book.

  • Replaced one category in the building menu with a page number.

Removed

  • Removed the Cooking UI.

  • Removed item UI.

  • Removed interaction UI.

  • Removed the day and clock UI in the top left corner.

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the player would get stuck when loading in on top of a structure.

  • Fixed a bug where the sound of the campfire burning could not be heard.

  • Fixed a bug where the highlight on focused objects was seen through character hands and held items.

  • Fixed a bug where hovering inventory and hotbar slots would show no hovered visuals.

  • Fixed a bug where hovered UI in the inventory would be larger than the slot UI itself.

  • Fixed a bug where items already on the map would duplicate every time a player got near or loaded a save.

  • Fixed a bug where raindrops would hit in the air.

  • Fixed a bug where all fur would instantly dry after 5 seconds.

  • Fixed a bug where toggling hide UI would not hide the building menu if it was previously visible.

  • Fixed a bug where fur, teddybear and lanterns could not be placed on tables.

  • Fixed a bug where there was no drop sound when dropping resources if carrying more than 1.

  • Fixed a bug where the cut resources on the sawhorse would be rotated the wrong way.

  • Fixed a bug where built lanterns had no highlight.

  • Fixed a bug where turning on lanterns had the wrong keybind.

  • Fixed a bug where resources would not disappear or appear stacked from the player's hands when placing and taking resources from the sawhorses.

  • Fixed a bug where there would be no blood on the character or weapon when killing a trapped animal.

  • Fixed a bug where fur on fur racks would not be visible or intractable when loading up a save.
