Forefront changes
It is officially here! Not only can you conquer the new Clearwater map and visit the Training Grounds, you will also get to take your shot with a Combat Bow, test out the new drone, rock a field perk of your choice, let that dynamic light shine on PC, and much, MUCH more. Welcome, to Forefront 1.0!
Find out more details in our Discord and read the full changelog below!
New Conquest Map: Clearwater
Clearwater is a brand-new map for our Conquest mode. It has beautiful nature, and even an urban area that is slightly flooded.
O.R.E. discovered a Red Orpiment deposit under a lake in the nearby area, but to make it easier to extract, they opened the floodgates. Not only was a town flooded, but the local wildlife took a massive hit, too. The Coalition forces could not stand idly by and deployed troops in response. Which side will emerge victorious?
Combat Bow Takes Aim, Drone Takes Flight!
Let your enemies take an arrow to the knee with the Combat Bow, a new weapon Recon players will be able to unlock. Pull that string back and let the arrow find its target.
On the other hand, engineers have a new Drone gadget to deploy. Drones have many applications. Not only can they be used for spotting enemies or picking up and transporting medkits and ammo boxes, they’re also equipped with a zapper that can burst repair vehicles, instakill gadgets, or deal damage to players.
Introducing, Field Perks.
They have finally arrived. Every class gets four Field Perks to choose from, all of them unlockable through the class progression. Every Field Perk will enhance the gameplay of your chosen class. Give them a shot and discover which one works best to level up your play style.
Assault: Munition Specialist, Grenadier, Demolisher, and Vanguard
Engineer: Saboteur, Mechanic, Jump Starter, and Flak Jacket
Medic: Field Medic, Healing Specialist, Combat Readiness, and Scavenger
Recon: Iron Lungs, Thrifter, Executioner, and Field Scout
Now, what do they do, you ask? Get in-game and find out!
Open For Business: Training Grounds!
The Training Grounds lets players familiarize themselves with the game’s controls, movement, weapons, vehicles, gadgets, etc. without the interruptions of enemy fire or objectives. This island has everything you need to get to know Forefront, and to get some practice in with some of the vehicles, or on the firing range.
Dynamic Lighting for PC & More!
For the PCVR lovers among you, dynamic lighting is finally available and is enabled by default under the “Graphics” tab in the game’s settings. As the name suggests, this will make the lighting inside the game behave dynamically granting players, weapons, or any props and the environment as a whole, beautiful shadows. It makes the game feel more realistic and alive, and we can’t wait for you to try it out.
We had more PCVR Upgrades in mind like improved FX, but unfortunately, we couldn’t give them the polish they needed to make it into the 1.0 launch, so you can expect more enhancement in post-launch updates!
Aside from making things look prettier, we also implemented some highly requested features. For example, Helicopters now have physical controls to fly with! Not to worry, the old control scheme still works if you loved it. But for pilots who crave the full experience? Grab the joysticks and have at it!
Finally, we also polished up the audio, improved gun handling and grabbing, added Quick Play, and much more alongside a whole host of bug fixes.
What About The Future?
Thank you to everyone who supported the game through Early Access and with the Supporter Pack, and welcome to all the new players that will be joining the O.R.E. Mercenaries or the Coalition Forces. We’re more than happy to have you.
However, Forefront development does not stop here. We’ve got more plans to bring to fruition, and we’re in the process of crafting a new post-launch roadmap that we’ll reveal soon enough. The update cadence will likely be a bit slower than it was during Early Access to give the team a bit of a breather, but we’ve already got tons of awesome stuff in the works!
As always, let us know what you think about the game, and the update in our Discord. We’re always looking forward to your feedback. Cheers, and see you in the game! -TF
