Following Seas changes
This is another update mainly focused on improvements to existing systems, and fixing bugs.
These fixes primarily center around the larger ships, addressing several performance, lighting, and functionality issues present in multi-deck vessels.
Additionally, this update brings significant overhauls to the launch system, hopefully making the process of using the launches more tolerable.
Ship Fixes: Caravel:
Fixed issue where the caravel would become stuck upon starting a new game if any amount of floodwater entered the hull.
Greatship:
Fixed numerous mesh holes in Greatship collision geometry.
Fixed an area on the Greatship gundeck where the player could exit the render zone and despawn details.
Started implementation of a more efficient lighting model for ship zones. Currently effects the Saettia and Greatship. Will result in (up to) a 50% reduction in draw calls, and a corresponding increase in FPS. These benefits will only be felt when in interior spaces, there should be minimal to no effect on exteriors.
Speculative fix for gradual drift of Greatship wheel.
Fixed cases where interacting with the piston pump and pressing the interact key while looking away from the pump could result in the interaction persisting while moving after stopping interaction.
Fixed inoperable name/color interface.
Fixed softlock when attempting to change name/colors.
Saettia:
Made several small adjustments to Saettia zones to prevent premature despawning of area detail.
Fixed very unreliable retrieval prompt for Saettia launch. Corsair Xebec:
Fixed cargo manifest being inaccessible when fully loaded.
Fixed aft cargo area allowing 3x3 loading when it should have been 2x3.
Added additional below deck lighting, and moved lighting to prevent intersection with loaded cargo.
General:
*hopefully* reduced cases where ladders would become non-responsive when in the water.
Fixed color picker main preview window always displaying shades of red.
Fixed name interface retaining changes during session after cancelling naming process.
Fixed sail color interface moving to goth mode and always loading as black after setting.
Fixed sail color not updating immediately upon setting new color.
Fixed name text color not updating correctly.
Fixed inventory items remaining equipped when using task menu.
Updated naming UI text to better indicate that the naming UI only sets the colors, and does not save them. (Meaning you will need to perform a manual save to make the color/name persistent.)
Changes/New Content:
Rowboats are approximately 38.61% less miserable to use. Controls should be more responsive, and the player should be much harder to dislodge from the rowing position. Additionally, behavior in water should be significantly improved, though still not perfect. Speed should be maintained much more through troughs, and the hull is much less likely to dive or porpoise excessively. (Note, the Sampan still needs some additional tweaks. It has the same overhaul, but remains less stable overall.)
Player should now correctly disengage from rowboat when capsized as well.
Added a first pass of screen overlay effects. Currently this encompasses a wet overlay when exiting/entering the ocean, or when nearby bow spray effects.
Note that for those who prefer to keep screens clear, a persistent multiplier (Screen Overlay Strength) has been added to option panels allowing you to reduce the effect, or remove it entirely.
If you are on the discord an have noticed a reduction in my responses, this isn't because I'm ignoring your reports. Things are very busy for me, so I've been trying to address bugs and issues at the start of week then spending the rest of the time addressing those bugs so I don't get sidetracked with emerging reports.
