Following Seas 1.2 Hotfix 4

Hello - this update isn't complete as it was originally intended for the end of the week. However due to a game-breaking bug with the Corsair Xebec, I'm pushing this out early to address.

Repeated intro

Hello - this update isn't complete as it was originally intended for the end of the week. However due to a game-breaking bug with the Corsair Xebec, I'm pushing this out early to address. Apologies for the inconvenience.

What changed

  • Gameplay
  • Fixes
  • Performance
addedAdded a small platform, increasing the height of the helm, allowing better forward visibility.
fixedFixed sail colors not functioning on the Dhow.
fixedFixed game-breaking bug that prevented saving/loading of this ship.
changedSignificantly reduced the number of collision objects and rigidbodies in the rigging, which should improve stability and performance. (Slightly)
changedImproved spar rope behavior, particularly regarding cases where the player attempts to over-shorten the line. Ropes connecting to limited range objects such as spars will now better respect the max/min distances, capping rope retraction to the minimum distance between objects. This can result in slightly less tautness in ropes, but should be more controllable in most cases.
changedMade numerous adjustments to rigging joints, rigidbodies, and colliders to hopefully improve stability. Also increased the global physics iterations somewhat. This may cost a few frames, but should result in more stable components.

Dhow:

Added a small platform, increasing the height of the helm, allowing better forward visibility.

Fixed sail colors not functioning on the Dhow.

Corsair Xebec:

Fixed game-breaking bug that prevented saving/loading of this ship.

Significantly reduced the number of collision objects and rigidbodies in the rigging, which should improve stability and performance. (Slightly)

All Lateen/Square Rigs

Improved spar rope behavior, particularly regarding cases where the player attempts to over-shorten the line. Ropes connecting to limited range objects such as spars will now better respect the max/min distances, capping rope retraction to the minimum distance between objects. This can result in slightly less tautness in ropes, but should be more controllable in most cases.

Made numerous adjustments to rigging joints, rigidbodies, and colliders to hopefully improve stability. Also increased the global physics iterations somewhat. This may cost a few frames, but should result in more stable components.

Added a function to the base of sail/rigging/cloth component that attempts to track positional data in a performant way. Consider this in testing. The aim is to intercept cases of rigging/cloth 'explosions' where depenetration/collisions enters a feedback loop that will see your ship skyrim-giant-victim its way into low orbit. This *should* cause the intertia of rigging components to reset to nil, and reposition rigidbodies to their starting positions if any component exceeds its limits dramatically. This does not currently effect junk/tanja rigs, as the nature of their reef mechanics makes this a bit more complicated, but if it tests successfully the solution will apply to them later.
