Big patch!
It's been a few months since the last patch, again, and that's because I was trying to implement some big changes. Adding windowed support, getting achievements working on Mac, and cloud saves are all still coming down the pipeline, and while none of those highly requested features are in this patch, again, I did finish what were by far the two most requested features, infinite undo, and making the game easier!
In much of my user testing, I noticed many players were getting stuck on the same set of Spells, usually at the very end. Finally I've gone and decided on a design philosophy for those parts of the game that I hope should make it a lot more reasonable. As well, infinite undo was a huge undertaking, but is finally done! Now you'll be able to tinker around with ideas you have in the game, instead of having to keep them in your mind. Patch notes:
Added ability to undo infinitely. (By far the most requested feature.) Made the hint NPC be clearer in the lategame concerning what to focus on. Fixed some typos and added/edited some more flavor text. Fixed a glitch where you could get some museum ranks earlier than intended. Added some hints to particularly difficult midgame Spells many people got stuck on. Made the endgame more forgiving in what you had to do to trigger it. Made running speed persists across areas/loads. Fixed a glitch where one NPC would disappear/say the wrong dialogue/be visible in an unintended spot. Changed some text in two hidden Easter Eggs in the game to make them less confusing. Made a couple of the final puzzles be optional.
Note: For now, this patch is for Windows only. Mac users will have to wait a little longer for their infinite undo and achievements and this easier version of the game.
