Hi All,

Development of Flashes of Chaos is slowly progressing, today I pushed a big update to the Demo.

Changed the setting to:

You are sent into a fallen weapon research complex, where you must use its own technology to build guns and survive long enough to extract it.

Main things changed regarding setting:

  • More epic opening when starting a run

  • Shop is now rebranded to Lab

  • Game progress is displayed in a terminal

This major update is a aggregation of multiple smaller updates in the Beta channel. Full list of updates below, in short:

  • Lots of Quality of Life improvements

  • Some performance improvements

  • Some bug fixes.

  • Game balancing

Next up in development are testing new level designs and testing the addition of perks.

v 0.03.001

  • Changed mod reflect all to be only a native mod

  • Defend circle now freezes once room is done

  • You can now go back from select guns to select difficulty with ESC (no longer opens the in-game pause menu)

  • Save files are now overwritten once you enter the computer screen

  • Upcoming boss is now shown in inventory

  • Rearranged the options menu

v 0.02.028

  • Added limitations on amount of particles

  • Changed default of showing shot cards in game to false

  • Made trigger mods more visible in shot cards on screen

  • Added activated difficulty scales to inventory

  • Fixed camera twitching / jumping at level start

  • Base HP increases via glitch now work percentage-based (stackable)

  • Added toggle to turn off showing the time

  • Added visual preset for a de-saturated grunge look

  • Fixed light occluder walls and greatly reduced occluder count (performance improvement)

  • Reload times now show in seconds instead of frames

  • Changed shop card packs to Manila folders

  • Fixed boss levels sometimes giving the starting room

  • Menu select box is now larger with better spacing

  • Added lab/shop state to save file (no more shop save scumming)

  • Tweaked difficulty curve (gets harder later in runs)

  • Possible slight level load speed improvements

  • added auto re-spawn of statues

  • increased hp statues, also HP increases more every time they re-spawn

  • if clicking game window when was out of focus, no more menu actions

  • added text for extinguisher

  • added a start run sub menu

  • make god go less big, as in check for if already god before increase size

  • added dithering to game-world, can be toggled off in menu

  • turned off scan-lines in game world

  • clip large damage numbers on cards

  • updated visuals of the menus
